July 15[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on July 15, 2008

Persephone (planet) -> Eris (dwarf planet)[edit]

The result of the debate was Keep. (non-admin closure) Mastrchf (t/c) 18:42, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Everyone knows this body as Eris. Nobody will want to search for Persephone to find an article on this dwarf planet. Georgia guy (talk) 00:09, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The target article (which has FA status), has an entire section on why the name Persephone (which was suggested by its discoverer) has been rejected. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed 00:52, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • The redirect has a non trivial edit history related to the tenth planet in science and fiction and Eris. Moreover, there was a small discussion at Talk:Planets_beyond_Neptune#Should_Planet_Persephone_link_here.2C_or_to_Eris_.28dwarf_planet.29.3F whether it should remain a redirect there or rather be re targeted to Eris where the naming is currently discussed. So the redirect should be kept and only be changed back if also that content is moved to Planets beyond Neptune.--Tikiwont (talk) 14:35, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The article states why it was almost called this, it does have a number of nicknames. ~AH1(TCU) 17:42, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the tenth planet was widely known to have a "leading candidate name" of Persephone, and Eris was widely known as the tenth planet. 70.55.86.51 (talk) 03:37, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

European Monetary UnitEuropean Currency Unit[edit]

The result of the debate was Convert to dab. Lenticel (talk) 23:51, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because EMU != ECU. Although, this is a very obscure topic, as best as I can work out EMU is a "bond market unit" separate and distinct from the ECU. My evidence for this is that all lists of ISO 4217 codes that I have seen include separate entries for XEU (= European Currency Unit) and XBB (= European Monetary Unit), implying they are separate currencies/funds/units. Indeed, our own ISO 4217 page describes XBB as [[European Monetary Unit]] (E.M.U.-6) (bond market unit). Ideally, I think we should have an article on the EMU-6, but given the obscurity of this topic I am not qualified to write one. However, I don't think we can let stand such a misleading redirect. SJK (talk) 11:47, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • If they are different (and I don't have any data to dispute your concerns above), be bold and overwrite the redirect with a stub about the new topic. There is no reason or need to delete the redirect before doing so. If you don't feel qualified to do so yet, you could leave a note on both Talk pages asking for help. In the meantime, keeping the redirect seems better for our readers than a redlink even if it's an imperfect fit. Rossami (talk) 15:34, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, per your suggestion I have now replaced the redirect with a very minimal stub. It contains no more information than what is given by the ISO 4217 code list, since that is the only information available to me. And, given I've stubbed XBB, I might as well go ahead and stub its brethren XBA, XBC and XBD. --SJK (talk) 06:52, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

'Yiayia' Joanna AnistonJohn Aniston[edit]

The result of the debate was Delete. Lenticel (talk) 23:49, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name appears nowhere in the target article - can be confusing in light of Jennifer Aniston being John Aniston's daughter. It's likely to be a non-notable sibling of either John or Jennifer Aniston. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 02:02, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bleach movie 3Fade to Black[edit]

The result of the debate was Retarget. Lenticel (talk) 07:14, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Target page does not list Bleach Movie 3 anywhere HomicidalOfTheFrench (talk) 16:48, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to Bleach (manga)#Films. The thired film is mentioned in that section. --76.71.210.132 (talk) 17:54, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that's a good idea I'll go do that —Preceding unsigned comment added by HomicidalOfTheFrench (talkcontribs) 18:49, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
