December 26[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on December 26, 2008

Bill WatersW. F. Waters[edit]

The result of the discussion was Keep due to withdrawal. (non-admin closure) Mastrchf (t/c) 16:16, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Only articles linking there are referring to a Hockey player not this Scout Leader Bduke (Discussion) 23:58, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as W. F. Waters is commonly called "Bill" as stated in the article. If the aforementioned hockey player merits a standalone article, then a standalone article with a disambiguated name (such as, possibly, Bill Waters (ice hockey)) can be written and the nominated redirect can be turned into a disambiguation page. B.Wind (talk) 19:21, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Looks like those articles linking to the redirect have been fixed, so that's not a concern. That being the case there's no reason not to have a redirect from the Scout Leader's usual name. If the hockey player does turn up as an article we can deal with that (by DAB, as B Wind says) then. Olaf Davis (talk) 12:30, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • As the links have been fixed, I will withdraw the nomination, but it is best if another admin closes it. --Bduke (Discussion) 02:06, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Universal Service Directive1-1-2[edit]

The result of the discussion was Delete. I'll try add to a stub.Tikiwont (talk) 10:22, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect simply doesn't make sense. It suggests that the article (on the pan-European emergency phone number) provides substantial information on the Directive, but it doesn't; all it says is that 1-1-2 is "regulated" by the Directive. Hairy Dude (talk) 19:53, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete and list at WP:Requested articles - currently there is no viable target article for this notable treaty of the European Union, as it not a good idea to redirect general to specific (in fact, there is little mention about telephone service in general outside of North America, the United Kingdom, and France save emergency telephone numbers). DidiotLaura Didio[edit]

The result of the discussion was Keep --Allen3 talk 16:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an attack redirect. Quantumobserver (talk) 06:59, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Idiot. I'm sure it would be very easy for someone typing to fast to put a d in front by accident. It serves no purpose as it is.--Patton123 20:12, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Speedy Keep per RfD closed December 24 as "keep." Retargeting will circumvent the recent close. B.Wind (talk) 04:24, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • Could you link to that discussion please? I'm having trouble finding it. Olaf Davis (talk) 12:35, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      The discussion is located at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2008 December 16#Didiot → Laura DiDio. --Allen3 talk 16:02, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Allen3. In light of such a recent keep closure and the fact that the term is sourced in the article and a likely search term, I'd say keep it. I have to flatly disagree with the previous closer's comment that "NPOV doesn't apply to redirects" - clearly, redirecting "World's prettiest country" to Belgium qualifies as POV - but since in this case the term's usage is sourced without implicitly agreeing that she is a 'Didiot'. It might be worth changing the target to Laura_Didio#Open_Source to reduce the surprise value though. Olaf Davis (talk) 11:34, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Division 1 (speedwayDivision 1[edit]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete under WP:CSD#G7: requested by author.--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 10:19, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No pages link to redirect. Truncated title. No obvious target alternatives. No history since creation.

This and Allsvenskan_(speedway might fit R3 of CSD. However I'm unused to deletion nomination, not sure this or that is the right place. --Bamsefar75 (talk) 01:31, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
