  • Comment: I suspect (speaking for myself if nothing else) that it's highly unlikely that most people would look up 'Second Ossetian War' when looking for the current hostilities, when many people had no idea that the place had had any wars before.   • The list itself never would be mentioned. The relevant question is whether any of the content from the old list got merged back into the article. If there was a merger even temporarily, then we would want to keep the redirect and its pagehistory as the easiest way to assure compliance with the attribution requirements of GFDL. (And even if we can prove that no content were moved, we should probably still keep it as an easy way to provide a reference to the AfD and to preempt other from recreating the same content that the community has already decided it doesn't want.)
