魔多Mordor[edit]

The result of the debate was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 18:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible redirect. I don't think a user will enter '魔多', from Mordor#Naming, "The root mor ("dark", "black") also appears in Moria, which means "Black Pit". Dor ("land") also appears in Gondor ("stone-land"), Eriador, and Doriath ("fenced land"). The Quenya word for Shadow is "mordo".". I also think if a user wants to know the Chinese name of Mordor, he will go to the interwiki panel. 72.67.104.27 (talk) 00:11, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. --Lenticel (talk) 01:23, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. One does not simply redirect into Mordor! --Gwern (contribs) 16:57 6 April 2008 (GMT)
  • Delete per nom rationale. Guroadrunner (talk) 08:52, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Gwern: great idea :-) Seriously, how possibly will there be an English Wikipedia user who can type the Chinese and knows what it means, but doesn't know "Mordor"? It's ridiculously less likely than the idea of the person putting it into the Chinese Wikipedia and following an interwiki link. Nyttend (talk) 00:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong delete. We already discussed this subject some months ago. Foreign names are acceptable as redirects only if they are related to the subject. -- Magioladitis (talk) 00:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alessio FerramoscaJuventus F.C.#Current season[edit]

The result of the debate was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:58, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirected per AfD, but the link is now out of date (current season no longer exists as such in the article), and there is no mention of him in the relevant season article here. MSJapan (talk) 22:30, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - how notable is this player? If he's not notable, and he may well might not be as he's no longer on the team and didn't get his own wp page, then maybe delete. Guroadrunner (talk) 08:53, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Reply He isn't notable other than for drowning during a training session for the youth team. The material was later taken out of that season's article, which is why the redirect doesn't work, and there's nothing else for it to redirect to. There is a similar redir for Riccardo Neri as well. MSJapan (talk) 14:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Since the relevant information has been taken out of the target article, and there is no other appropriate place to redirect to, deletion seems the best option here. Terraxos (talk) 03:05, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of everythingPortal:Contents/Lists of topics[edit]

The result of the debate was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:57, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cross-namespace redirect; I don't think Portal:Contents/Lists of topics is really a list of everything. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 14:14, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as cross-namespace redirect.--Lenticel (talk) 14:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep The target basically is a "list of everything" on Wikipedia; this might be useful for somebody having trouble navigating. JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 18:31, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete If it's a list of everything, we're talking 2 million-plus entries, which is really not that useful. The cross-namespace pretty much moots it anyway. MSJapan (talk) 22:33, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - this started out as a parody, a bad one at that. It is impossible to list "everything," and no redirect will make it "better." Oh, by the way, in mathematics, a "set of all sets" leads to Russell's paradox, which we should try to avoid here. 147.70.242.40 (talk) 18:20, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

포르투갈Portugal[edit]

The result of the debate was Deleted. -- JLaTondre (talk) 17:55, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible redirect. A user searching for Portugal, that user is more likely to type 'republica portuguesa' than '포르투갈', in my mind anyhow. 72.67.104.27 (talk) 01:11, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as Portugal is not a Korean topic, and Korea was not a Portuguese colony. Perhaps it can be noted in a section of the article what the country's name is in other languages. (Actually, all articles should have such a section...) 70.55.84.42 (talk) 03:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per the two anons.--Lenticel (talk) 14:39, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above. The interwiki section of the article Portugal directs users to the Korean-language version of the article. Black Falcon (Talk) 04:06, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Aside from the unlikelihood of a reader deciding to type that, probably 99% of non-Korean English Wikipedia readers don't even have the ability to type that. Nyttend (talk) 23:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong delete. Foreign language redirects are acceptable only the are related to the subject. We had this kind of conversation here some months ago. -- Magioladitis (talk) 00:24, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
