Booz AllenBooz Allen Hamilton[edit]

The result of the debate was keep. WjBscribe 00:18, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect omits the Booz Allen Classic from showing up in the results for someone typing in Booz Allen in the search box. Since we can't add two redirects, deletion is the only answer so a results page will pop up on a search for criteria "Booz Allen" and allow the user to determine which Wikipedia page they want to visit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Edittman (talkcontribs)

  • Keep & add hatnote to top of Booz Allen Hamilton. That is a common shorting of the company's name. Most people will be using this term to search for the company. A {{Redirect|REDIRECT|USE|PAGE}} hatnote at the top of the company article will adequately handle the nominator's concern. -- JLaTondre 23:36, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Concur with JLT, looks like some sort of disambiguation is in order, I think that would serve the nominator's purposes well enough? – Luna Santin (talk) 03:54, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sounds good. The problem is how can I search for other potential uses of Booz for instance when I have to "know" the pages first to disambiguate them. For instance, when I type in Booz I am automatically redirected to the Wikipage Boaz, which has nothing to do with Booz and also prevents me from searching for other pages with Booz in them. When I type in Booz Allen I am redirected to Booz Allen Hamilton when what I'm really trying to do is search for anything with Booz Allen in the name. So this is impacting searches as well for any other pages with Booz in them. I just happened to find the Booz Allen Classic wikipage through a google search of all things. I should have been able to have successfully searched within the Wikipedia realm and found that Booz Allen Classic wikipage. This is the problem with redirects, which is why I want to delete this one so I can actually do a search to see what else is out there with the Booz name in it. Meaning that Booz redirect to the Boaz wikipage needs to be removed as well. Thoughts? Edittman (talk) 01:44, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • The search box has two buttons: "Go" & "Search". The "Go" button (which is the default so what occurs if one simple hits enter) will go straight to the page if a page by that title exists. The "Search" will always do a search. -- JLaTondre 02:48, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • Ahhhhhh, I always hit enter and presume it is searching. Very interesting. Thank you. Edittman (talk) 00:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (as creator). Booz Allen Hamilton is very commonly referred to as simply "Booz Allen," and the Booz Allen Classic is named after the company, which would seem to give the corporation indisputable primacy in deciding where "Booz Allen" should point. I don't have a stance on whether a hatnote is appropriate, and would leave that discussion to folks who montior Talk:Booz Allen Hamilton. JDoorjam JDiscourse 20:15, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elizabeth Paula ShelbyElizabeth Shelby[edit]

The result of the debate was Kept & double redirect fixed. While it may not be canonical, a Google search shows that the name is used (including on the actor's IMDB page). Therefore, it is a potential search phrase. -- JLaTondre 17:53, 2 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - target article is now itself a redirect and "Elizabeth Paula Shelby" is a highly unlikely search term. Otto4711 (talk) 15:47, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to The Best of Both Worlds (Star Trek: The Next Generation). That's the best way to deal with double redirects - simply changing them to link directly to the ultimate target page, rather than deleting them. In this case, I don't agree the title is a highly implausible search term, so it's worth keeping. Terraxos (talk) 02:39, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Frankly, "Elizabeth Shelby" is an implausible search term as well, since IIRC the character is never identified in canonical material as anything other than "Commander Shelby." Certainly never by first, middle and last name. Otto4711 (talk) 18:07, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mannequin 3A Mom for Christmas[edit]

The result of the debate was delete. WjBscribe 00:15, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is obviously not a Mannequin sequel, as it was made before Mannequin 2 and is based on a book. 68.199.72.176 (talk) 01:03, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delete all. The film 'A Mom for Christmas' has no connection with the 'Mannequin' series; and according to IMDB, no such film as 'Mannequin 3' exists. Whatever confused reason someone had for making these redirects, we don't need them. Terraxos (talk) 02:35, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
