August 1[edit]
Botch Lesnar → Brock Lesnar[edit]
Appears to be vandalism. User also created the speedy deleted "Black Lesnar" article. Ken S. 20:56, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy and as such if this redirect made sense we would keep it even if it was created in bad faith. However, this insulting nickname is not mentioned in this biography of a living person, so it should go. BigNate37(T) 21:05, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. The user who created this redirect also added nonsense to the Dave Bautista page and then removed it 4 minutes later. This user also blanked his talk page removing the notice about "Black Lesnar" from it. Ken S. 21:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Please stop reporting what that user did—it makes no difference (the exception being if this redirect qualifies for CSD G5). As I stated above, we discuss redirects at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. The redirect's creator's other actions on Wikipedia are irrelevant. BigNate37(T) 21:59, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - obvious vandalism from a user who is an obvious vandal (Note: He removed a warning notice from his talk page) --ChrisDHDR ( • contrib's) 08:24, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete. It's a harmful redirect. David Pro 22:11, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
John Michael Bolger → John Bolger[edit]
This was my own mistake; John Bolger and John Michael Bolger are two different actors. Anthony Rupert 17:08, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - any chance you can just create a notable stub instead of deleting this? --After Midnight 0001 17:14, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I could, but I don't have enough information about him. Anthony Rupert 23:20, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: I added
{{distinguish|John Michael Bolger}}
to the John Bolger article. BigNate37(T) 17:15, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply] - Comment - to Anthony Rupert, why don't you add even that little bit of information?? It will encourtage others to add to it and we may one day get a real article. Otherwys Delete --ChrisDHDR ( • contrib's) 08:29, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Argumentum ad chewbaccum → Chewbacca defense[edit]
It's a joke neologism meaning "appeal to Chewbacca" coined by a Wikipedian during an old AFD debate in reference to a joke about Johnnie Cochran on South Park. Patent nonsense not suitable for an encyclopedia. --Pixelface 15:17, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The above is preserved as the archive of an RfD nomination. Please do not modify it.January of 2007 → January 2007[edit]
with February of 2007 → February 2007
No reason for creation, created by number/date spammer. (I just deleted about 100 of his number/date spam articles and/or redirects, and that only covers last week.) These are not quite identical to those deleted by consensus previously, so I thought I'd send it to RfD. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 14:51, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep. These redirects make sense to me—whether I'd suggest creating them for every month in existence or not is another story, but I see no reason to delete these and they prevent duplicate article creation and help avoid accidental linking. BigNate37(T) 14:56, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep redirects are cheap, and this seems perfectly reasonable, correct, and potentially useful. Xtifr tälk 20:49, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - on the same basis as I would keep As of 2007, seems logical and redirects are cheep --ChrisDHDR ( • contrib's) 08:36, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wp:france → Wikipedia:WikiProject France[edit]
This is a non-conform shortcut since it is not in capitals and as per Wikipedia:Shortcut#List_of_prefixes, it should be avoided. It already has a counterpart, WP:FRANCE, and is therefore obselete. ChrisDHDR ( • contrib's) 08:29, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete as per above ChrisDHDR ( • contrib's) 08:30, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete, though I'd have no problem with WP:France or WP:france. BigNate37(T) 14:37, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per BigNate. WP:, H:, CAT:, T: etc are pseudo-namespaces, Wp: is not. Melsaran 22:31, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Wp:afd is its own redirect independent from WP:AFD. This may be moot anyway because I think the search function now interprets Wp:foo as if you typed WP:FOO. Shalom Hello 02:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
User:Karin Spaink → Karin Spaink[edit]
Cross-namespace redirect from a user page. This user should rather just place something like "I am Karin Spaink" on their user page, rather than redirecting it to an encyclopaedia article. Melsaran 22:28, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Weak keep. I'm inclined to allow this sort of CNR, despite my distaste of them. We offer users a lot of freedom when it comes to userpages, and I am a proponent of doing so. Wikipedia:User page doesn't specifically forbid making your userpage a redirect and as long as the redirect isn't confusing we should allow this. Having said that, allowing a redirect to the mainspace makes it harder for another user to reach the user's talk page, hence the weak in my recommendation. BigNate37(T) 22:39, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Change - put something like "I'm Karin Spaink" on her userpage would be better so people can access her talk page --ChrisDHDR ( • contrib's) 08:11, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
