CrosstownMinnesota State Highway 62[edit]

The nominated redirect was Converted to disambig. -- JLaTondre 00:41, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't really make sense, to redirect to something only a minnesota local would think of, considering crosstown probably refers a local road in just about every county in the US, and most English speaking countries. It should probably either be made its own article, or be made into disambiguation page, if not deleted.--Vercalos 22:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ali Reza Pahlavi (born 1966)Ali Reza Pahlavi II[edit]

The nominated redirect was Kept. -- JLaTondre 14:23, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible search term. Picaroon9288 22:21, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as per nomination. --Rbraunwa 01:38, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This redirect was created as the result of a pagemove. The contents have subsequently been moved again. While it is clear that the page was originally created at the wrong title, maintaining the redirect will serve to point the original readers/editors of the page to the correct destination. Rossami (talk) 19:56, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Let me give a full explanation of the situation: the article Ali Reza Pahlavi (born 1966) was created by someone who was aware that there were two Ali Reza Pahlavis, but didn't know much about the MoS. Then, some editors (rightly) decided that Ali Reza Pahlavi (born 1966) had a malformed name, and they moved it to Ali Reza Pahlavi. But they didn't know that there were two Ali Reza Pahlavis. So I moved the page a second time, to its current resting place, Ali Reza Pahlavi II. Now, Ali Reza Pahlavi is a disambiguation page, which links to both Ali Reza Pahlavi I, the elder of the two Iranian princes, and Ali Reza Pahlavi II, the younger one (who was, in fact, born in 1966.)
    • Now, as to the issue of keeping the redirect: as you can see, Ali Reza Pahlavi (born 1966) has only four links; two are from the rfd process, one is a bot-maintained list of shortpages, and one is from an half-year old talk archive. Anyone looking for either of the two Ali Reza Pahlavis can easily just type that name into the searchbar, and they will find the dab page, which will direct them to whichever one they're looking for. Although I am willing to be proven wrong, I find it highly improbable that anyone is ever going to type this into the searchbar, including the creator. And since there are no links to Ali Reza Pahlavi (born 1966) in places that users searching for the content of Ali Reza Pahlavi II will ever locate, I still view the redirect as useless. Picaroon9288 21:25, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • Remember that redirects support more than just the search engine. They also support links for anyone who watchlisted the page under the old (bad) names or who created external links into Wikipedia (again, under the old name). While those uses may seem improbable to you, keeping such redirects costs Wikipedia nothing, either in server costs or user experience. On the other hand, deleting such redirects actually consumes very slightly more server costs. Rossami (talk) 03:19, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sabian[edit]

The nominated redirect was Technically should have been at WP:RM, but I did it as this seemed non-controversial. -- JLaTondre 01:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - so the page Sabian (disambiguation) can be moved to that title. Right now I've made it point to the disambig. page, because I think it's more suitable. --AAA! (talkcontribs) 09:22, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy Close this has alrady been nominated. It is listed lower on the page. I also suggest you vote on the original nomination. My mistake I did not realise the first RFD was for a typo version. --70.48.108.151 01:46, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Query: Oops. Can those 'spots' be painted (red, blue, yellow, red, yellow, blue)? I've NOT learnt them... and Keep if: redir headed in the other direction, but that does produce a bad title with regards to screen readers, etc. I imagine it'd be like getting the TV show's logo while listening to the percussive intro theme to the The A-Team. special:search/f-r-i-e-n-d-s copes, curiously: "Results 1-5 of 5", yields 2 identical hits, but it choked 1st time off (and 3rd result for CAPS). Oh, well and thank-you. --Ricksy 00:58, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MonkeygunyaHand, foot and mouth disease[edit]

The nominated redirect was Kept. -- JLaTondre 14:23, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone had written an unsourced article under this title. I made this redirect. This term Monkeygunya is used for HFMD in southern India. The aim of listing this for RFD is not just to keep or delete this particular Redirect, but I would like to know the consensus of the community in having such redirects. Please take a look at Brain_fag, Fan_death, Windigo where we have even articles based on such entities which are limited to one small language, community, area etc. Culture-Bound_Syndrome and Genital_retraction_syndrome#Southeast_Asia:_Koro provide more insights  Doctor Bruno  13:26, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • -I personally can't see the harm. -Toptomcat 13:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep If someone heard the term and didn't know what it was, the redirect would tell them. --Dgies 16:53, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also it's probably worthwhile to have articles on widespread superstitions if they can be adequately sourced. This is different though: having a redirect for an uncommon/foreign/slang term is an aid to the search function, which is part of the reason for having redirects. --Dgies 22:44, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
