2006 World Cup (disambiguation)2006 World Cup[edit]

The nominated redirect was speedy keep, {{R to disambiguation page}}. Kusma (討論) 14:07, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Target is itself a dab page; the candidate for deletion used to be an identical copy (including Discussion page) of the target; there are at present no links to the candidate for deletion maf 11:29, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to ask for another administrator to check this, I think the rationale given to keep it is misguided; the page might be a redirect to a disambiguation page, but there is no need to retain it, since it was once the same page, and contains the phrase "(disambiguation)" in the title, which few people will search on. WhiteLightning 08:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:R and my talk page. Additionally, the page used to contain history from a cut-and-paste move, but I have since repaired it. Kusma (討論) 09:03, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox_radioTemplate:Infobox Radio station[edit]

The nominated redirect was deleted. Template aliases should be avoided if possible. Unused anyway. --Ligulem 21:34, 28 October 2006 (UTC) --Ligulem 21:34, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is a Template:Infobox_Radio that is in use (NB capitalisation difference), this now unused redirect entry is confusing AGoon 03:19, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Ahh, I see those two templates are used for identical purposes and are both very close (both derived from the Template:Infobox Television) and obviously should be merged. Template:Infobox Radio Show is a more descriptive name. I'll go away and do that (unless someone points out some error in my thinking?): comments -> AGoon. This will leave Template:Infobox Radio redundant - perhaps replace with a disambiguation page to direct people to the possibilities (Show vs Station). --AGoon 12:15, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree: Fine with me :-) --AGoon 12:15, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: There are now no real pages using either Infobox Radio or Infobox radio. I propose we redirect Infobox radio to Infobox Radio and turn Infobox Radio into a disambiguation page redirecting people to Infobox Radio Station or Infobox Radio Show. --AGoon 21:55, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: A ton of crap needs to be done here...

Mass nomination of redirects to Template:Db-reason[edit]

Template:SPEEDY, Template:Exterminate and Template:ANNIHILATE were deleted, the other seven were kept. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 16:05, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The following redirects (all to {{db-reason}}) are nominated for deletion:

The redirects {{d}} {{db}} {{delete}} {{deletebecause}} and {{db-because}} are not being proposed, either because they are actively being used, or for historical reasons (or because they fit the naming conventions; insertion --ais523 12:14, 16 October 2006 (UTC)).

I am proposing the redirects above for deletion because they don't fit the naming conventions for speedy-delete templates, many of them are unlikely to be used, and many of the names aren't intuitive and are unlikely to be found by accident. --ais523 08:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

  • Delete all except {{DB}}, which is a reasonable typo of the normal form. Especially delete ANNIHILATE and Exterminate, those are way off the norm. Mangojuicetalk 13:22, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • ANNIHILATE ANNIHILATE and Exterminate Exterminate. No strong opinion on the others, some of them are still in use (I think I've seen {{speedy}} and {{speedy delete}} on CAT:CSD patrol) but I can't provide any data on how common the use is: anyway, anybody using them should be able to find the correct templates. Kusma (討論) 16:27, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Update {{del}} survived a TfD in November 2004. However, the reasons given (abbreviation and easy to type) no longer apply in my view due to the existence of {{d}}, so I'm not changing my nomination. --ais523 09:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete ANNIHILATE and Exterminate. No opinion on SPEEDY. Keep the rest; especially for users active on multiple wikis, deletion templates are an inconsistent maze, and there's no reason to make them harder to find. —Cryptic 23:06, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete ANNIHILATE and Exterminate as incivil. I am Neutral on the others. Gavia immer (u|t|c) 00:25, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete ANNIHILATE and Exterminate as needlessly provocative. Keep the rest as potentially useful. — TKD::Talk 06:02, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Certainly Keep {{speedy}}. I have used it in the past, and very occasionally still do. NatusRoma | Talk 05:10, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete the two uncivil ones. Those should never have been created in the first place. Keep the rest because they are extensively mentioned across user pages, talk pages and article histories. The redirect alone serves to tell most users that these old templates have been deprecated. But if that's not sufficient, keep them with a {{historical}} or other deprecation tag. Rossami (talk) 18:14, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • BJAODN ANNIHILATE and Exterminate. Delete SPEEDY. Keep the rest. When I saw those, I nearly went ROFLMAO when I saw them! The first one made me think about E-123 Omega, while the second one made me think about Daleks. However, SPEEDY should go to the bit bucket, because it is not funny nor is it likely to be used by someone coming here from another wiki. Jesse Viviano 08:07, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep speedy, db, rm and delete. Not everyone is master of obscure abbreviations invented last week and text explanation is far more useful to provide the needed context. No opinion on the rest. Pavel Vozenilek 14:02, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delbecause, speedy, and del all have more than four links. Delete ANNIHILATE, Exterminate, and SPEEDY; keep the rest. TimBentley (talk) 03:10, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete {{ANNIHILATE}} and {{exterminate}} and keep the others. -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 04:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete SPEEDY, Exterminate, and ANNIHILATE. Keep Speedy, Csd, Speedy delete, Rm, and Del. Neutral on DB and Delbecause. --- RockMFR 00:57, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • ANNIHILATE ALL except DB, csd, and del. - CrazyRussian talk/email 05:50, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The nominated redirect was deleted. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 15:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gilgamesh (talk · contribs · count) moved this to the main WikiProject page in August 2004, and since then no action has been taken to remove the former; see talk. Someone should come over to start a real project with this subject in mind. Perhaps this should merge into Wikipedia:WikiProject Languages? --Slgr@ndson (page - messages - contribs) 22:25, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think this may have originally been an accidental article moving...if so, then speedy delete. - Gilgamesh 00:08, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
