The result of the debate was Speedy Kept. This was just closed yesterday as a keep. Let's wait at least a little while before revisiting. The previous nominator did not tag the article so this nominator probably wasn't aware of the previous nomination.-- JLaTondre 02:22, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

XPLANEX-plane[edit]

The result of the debate was There is an extensive discussion of this going on at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2006_November_24#XPLANE, this should not be considered as a distinct item. -- RoySmith (talk) 14:30, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An article on XPLANE has been existent at Wikipedia since 2004 and was recently deleted. XPLANE is the registered trademark of XPLANE Corp. (http://xplane.com). The original article referred to the legitimate company, with which X-PLANE can easily be confused. The redirect to another company (when an existing company holds the registered trademark)is inappropriate and potentially misleading. Dgray xplane 07:47, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the target redirect is not a company but a series of experimantal Unitied States Aircraft. I am not sure if trademark issues apply here especially since the aricle states that the first X-plane broke the sound barrier in 1947 and the company you mention was founded in 1993. --70.48.174.230 03:05, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Keep redirect There shouldn't be any sort of trademarking problem by having the article redirect to the series of airplanes. Rather, the more important issue is that users attempting to find an article on the X-planes are more likely to search for "Xplane" or "X plane" and not "X-plane". It was already decided that XPLANE as a company was not notable enough for Wikipedia. If that company does eventually meet WP:CORP standards then we should disable the redirect and replace it with an article about the company and add a disambig link. If you feel that this article is notable enough by WP:CORP standards then I strongly suggest that you follow the deletion review process. --Strothra 03:39, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: Potentially useful redirect. We can't go around deleting every redirect for which happens to be a name collision with a non-notable company. --Pak21 09:06, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect has come about due to an unnecessary spinning-off of certain subjects from the original article. The information has been re-merged, and this title is not a likely search term. ... discospinster talk 12:55, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
