So fix itTemplate:Sofixit[edit]

Cross-namespace redirect from article space to template. We already have WP:SOFIXIT which is a more appropriate place to go and doesn't count as a cross namespace redirect. Koweja 01:00, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, I don't mind cross-namespace redirects that much, but I really don't see this being particularly helpful. delldot | talk 05:48, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no need, as well as inelegant and confusing, to redirect an alternative capitalization to the standard capitalization; the software automatically sends you to the target article without the need for a redirect - see Case sensitivity and searching. JianLi 04:53, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, old redirect from CamelCase that contains some old history. Also has an incoming external link. Redirects are cheap. Kusma (討論) 07:28, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep {{R from CamelCase}}, and now tagged as such. The automatic capitalization-correction only happens on the Search box (using the Go button), not from direct links. --ais523 12:01, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

The result of the debate was Kept. -- JLaTondre 03:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This kind of redirect is useless since it is done by the "Go" button automatically. Links to it from other articles do not exist and would be incorrect. memset 18:01, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Capitalization redirects are useful. --- RockMFR 18:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep I just tried this on a comparable article, and you are still not redirected. I echo RockMFR here. Dar-Ape 04:11, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment. I'm pretty sure Memset is right, the software automatically takes you there if the first letter of each word are all in the same case. e.g. typing in Camille paglia automatically takes you to Camille Paglia without need for a redirect, or typing in Shower Curtain takes you automatically to Shower curtain. However, as ais523 mentions in the discussion above this one, it doesn't work for links, you'd need a redirect for that. Plus, redirect pages with incorrect capitalization or what have you can be useful because you can hit "what links here" and find all the articles that have it incorrectly written. delldot | talk 05:58, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I see now that it's common practice to have these redirects, so I don't mind if we keep it. I still don't think it's a good idea to create hundreds of thousands of redirects just for people who want to enter the URL directly. Links from other articles to incorrect capitalizations (like this one) should be corrected instead of a redirect created, and links to them from external sites wouldn't exist if the redirects hadn't been created in the first place. (btw, I think article names shouldn't be case sensitive at all, unfortunately MediaWiki doesn't support this) -- memset 11:31, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment I agree that it would not be a good idea to create redirects from all the various incorrect capitalizations of a title, which would just encourage incorrect links from both Wikipedia articles and external sites. MediaWiki's rules for capitalization, though good for most purposes, can be confusing sometimes. Maybe complete case insensitivity would be preferable. --JianLi 23:36, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the debate was: converted into an article, no longer eligible for an RFD. Dar-Ape 04:34, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a mal-formed redirect page that tries to redirect to two other pages. Neither one appears to be an appropriate redirect, as they are articles about one specific region and the title is more general. --Russ (talk) 22:21, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Perhaps turn it into a disambiguation page? Koweja 23:02, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I have rewritten it as a stub using information from the respective pages and a website I found. It can still be deleted, but this should be done so at WP:AFD and not here. Dar-Ape 04:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
