"hen fap" is a non-notable running joke on an internet message board and a nonsense phrase associated with one or more serial Wikipedia vandals (see [1]). No relevance to the target article. Muchness 22:57, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ninth planetPluto[edit]

Unused and incorrect since redefinition. Femto 20:24, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Agreed. Delete.--Planetary 20:44, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • KeepTruthCrusader 20:59, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - and move tenth planet to ninth planet, since we're now talking about the ninth planet. 132.205.93.205 21:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, at least for now. The new definition was just agreed upon by the IAU, and it's yet to be seen whether it'll be accepted by the general public. Anyway, whenever people think of the 9th planet they'll think of Pluto anyway, so it's harmless. --Rory096 21:13, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, despite being now misleading, it helps navigation which is the whole point of the page in the first place (cf. typo redirects).--JyriL talk 21:42, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Considering our goal is to write an encyclopedia, don't you think any decision which leads to misleading the readers should never be made? --Cyde Weys 04:11, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • It's not "misleading the readers" if, when someone types in an incorrect concept (the "ninth planet"), they are redirected to an article which teaches them that Pluto, once considered to be the ninth planet, has since been redefined. --Ckatzchatspy 04:16, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, Ninth planet refers to mysterious gas giant "Planet X". --myselfalso 21:43, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, conventional wisdom will be a long time catching up to this momentus decision. Let's continue to be usable to those not in the IAU fan club. -- nae'blis 21:46, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, even though I don't like calling Pluto a planet; the phrase "ninth planet" has no other meaning than Pluto. There is no evidence that it has suddenly fallen out of uasge. Melchoir 21:50, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. People still think of Pluto as the ninth planet, and that's not going to change in just one day. Voortle 21:56, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambig. Replace with disambiguation page linking to both previous and proposed pages. --md84419 22:14, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambig. I was going to vote Keep, as the redefinition is really new and contested by some, but I like the dab page. It links to both the 76 year old definition and the new official definition, giving those who haven't heard or forgot the opportunity to understand the change and explore both articles easily, as well as those who accept the change and are looking for what were previously the contenders for Tenth Planet. TransUtopian 22:54, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • Guys, have you read the new definition? They didn't decide on the new 3, they decided that Pluto wasn't a planet, so there is no 9th planet now. There's nothing for this page to point to besides Pluto. --Rory096 23:02, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambig. I like this idea, you can link to the old ninth planet (Pluto) and the concept that will probably slowly become "ninth planet" (Tenth planet). BryanG(talk) 23:12, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment if it is dabbed, it should go to Pluto, tenth planet and Planet X. 132.205.93.19 02:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Until a contender for "ninth planet" status comes along, there's no harm in pointing to Pluto. While we should certainly strive for accuracy, there is also an obligation to make Wikipedia user-friendly. Keep in mind that several generations have grown up thinking of Pluto as the ninth planet - and most of the people typing in "ninth planet' will not be "in the know" as to the workings of the IAU and Pluto's status as a planet. --Ckatzchatspy 04:12, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate between Pluto (say it used to be the ninth planet), Planet X, and Tenth planet. --Cyde Weys 04:12, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per Cyde. Robin Johnson (talk) 10:12, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate and include a link to the new definition of planet so that readers can understand why it's not necessarily Pluto. --Gavia immer 16:24, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per TransUtopian - an ambiguious term today. CP/M comm |Wikipedia Neutrality Project| 18:12, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete or redirect to Planet X is my vote. Since Pluto's demotion is mentioned in the first paragraph of the Planet X page, those who search for "ninth planet" expecting Pluto won't get lost, and they'll be educated at the same time. Tzepish 19:33, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Besides being an unlikely term for searching or linking, redirects with a leading slash are actively harmful, since they have the undocumented behavior of attaching the namespace of the current page to the beginning of the link, which is not useful in article space, and requiring an equally undocumented workaround to link to the actual article when not linked from article space. The six listed here are all of them currently in existence. --Gavia immer 19:16, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • (Speedy) Delete Keep Striking out old vote, didn't check the history - CNR without good justification, and (almost) as long as the target. CP/M comm |Wikipedia Neutrality Project| 18:11, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep—contains significant edit history; as the article stands, deletion is probably not allowed under the GFDL. On the other hand, if someone wants to go through the process of merging the edit history, then (and only then) could it be deleted. Ardric47 23:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This page has history and pre-dated the creation of the various namespaces. Even if you orphaned the page and are able to ensure that it stays orphaned even as other pages are reverted and if you merged the history, it is likely that a page this old will be referenced on external sites and pages which study the workings of Wikipedia. It is not a topic which could ever be mistaken for an encyclopedia article. The guideline agains CNRs is not strong enough to support the deletion of a potentially useful redirect. • (Speedy) Delete Keep Striking out old vote, didn't check the history - CNR, unlikely search term, unencyclopedic title. CP/M comm |Wikipedia Neutrality Project| 18:14, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. This is where the page existed before the creation of the independent namespaces. The redirect documents the pagemove and is potentially useful to any external links. Prior to orphaning, this redirect had hundreds of inbound links that I can confirm (and I suspect that it may have had thousands). Preserving the redirect will provide insurance in the event of the reversion of those pages to older versions where the link was still present. The guideline against CNRs is insufficient to justify deleting a useful redirect. Rossami (talk) 03:50, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral, I almost did keep... but, I do think it's harmless and I added r from misspelling so that it would never be included in a print release.
