MakaveliReed first created their account in January 2018 and was blocked indefinitely three days later for disruptive editing (reason: "Not here to contribute to the encyclopedia, just changing dates for fun") Since then, MakaveliReed has been abusing multiple IPs and accounts, often targeting the same pages repeatedly. IP addresses tend to vary wildly, from Chicago (usually) to New York City to as far away as Romania and Nigeria, but their editing habits remain the same across regions.

Targeted areas, pages, themes[edit]

MakaveliReed often edits articles related to contemporary R&B and hip hop music, usually from the mid-to-late 2000s. They also tend to edit video game articles, especially those relating to sports, particularly the NBA Live series. Generally, their edits involve music and/or soundtracks.

Habitual behavior[edit]

  • Unexplained changing of dates, whether cited or not. ([1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9])
  • Changing date ranges to an 'abbreviated' format, e.g. 2004–06 instead of 2004–2006 ([10][11][12][13][14]), sometimes with an – instead of a inbetween in the wikitext ([15][16][17]).
  • Addition of the "More citations needed" or "Unreferenced" templates, whether the article needs attention or not. Often, they replace date and language templates. ([18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27])
  • Addition of uncited soundtrack/track listing info ([28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36])
  • Always reverts edits manually. Never uses the undo function.
  • Sometimes makes edits on a single page in a repetitive pattern, going through the same process each time. For example, on Sexy Can I, the first edit changes dates in the lead ([37][38][39]), the second edit changes the date range on the charts table ([40][41][42]), and the third and final edit changes the dates in the release history section ([43][44][45])
