DYK nomination not being reviewed.[edit]

Hi everyone, I apologise if this is not the right forum to reach out for help but I have tried to access other communities (such as wikiprojects) to no avail. I submitted a nomination for an article that I contributed significantly to, Subneolithic, on May 11th. I believe some formatting correction was made on the submission that has resulted in it being overlooked for review as a nomination. Thus, despite all other nominations from May 11th being reviewed and edits suggested, my nomination has had no traction. I was wondering what next steps I should make in order to have it reviewed as I have attempted to resubmit (not possible) and have reached out to the community with no success. Thanks in advance! :) OK872 (talk) 02:20, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The best place to ask about DYK problems is at Wikipedia talk:Did you know. I have looked in the DYK nomination queue and your nomination is listed there awaiting a review. It's just that no one has reviewed it yet. It was only nominated on May 11. Reviews are not done in any particular order, you just have to wait for a volunteer to be interested in reviewing that one. There are several other nominations from that date as well as even earlier ones that are unreviewed. Just be patient. MB 03:03, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, thanks so much for your help! OK872 (talk) 04:13, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK872 the additional citations tag will need to be removed before the DYK nomination can be passed, but I see you have already started a conversation about that. TSventon (talk) 09:26, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:NLT[edit]

How do you respond to a person threatening legal action, such as in User talk:Thewatcher123, after they attempted to blank sections from Dean Blundell? Nythar (talk) 05:48, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Report it at WP:AN/I, as a general rule. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 06:47, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Nythar: The account violating NLT has already been blocked so there's really nothing more that needs to be done. For future reference, though, the best you can do is remain civil and avoid edit warring with the account. Once a threat like this has been made, you can add a user warning template like uw-legal to the account's user talk page. Since templates are sometimes strongly worded, a follow up post politely explaining that they will need to retract or strikethrough their threat if they want to avoid being blocked and that they can discuss their concerns about the content on the article's talk page might help stop the situation from further spinning out of control. If they double-down and repeat the threat or show no interest in trying to follow WP:DR, then don't engage them anymore and seek administrator assistance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:48, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

request[edit]

block me from editing in english wikipedia since im not editing here anymore thanks I stole your toast. (talk) 07:41, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Dulken, then no block is needed, you can just not edit. But if you really want, check Category:Wikipedia administrators willing to consider placing self-requested blocks. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:25, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Review of article[edit]

Mothparja (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I have added an article named "Mothparja" and have improved it a lot. I have added sections, references, good content and photos. But except that it is still a stub-class article. So please review it , help me to correct it's grammatical or spelling mistakes. And if it is good enough to be graded up (higher than stub-class) . And if it is not able to do so then please tell me how can I improve it.FAAHS (talk) 09:45, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note: asked and answered at the teahouse.
@FAAHS: Please do not ask similar questions in multiple locations; this makes work for other volunteers and can cause confusing or conflicting advice. Also, please include a link to any pages you need help with. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 11:44, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, you need more citations. Cattywampus23 (talk) 21:19, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How do we edit the FiedlNames in infoboxes?[edit]

I am trying to develop pages for the Northern Sotho wikipeda (nso). I have not been able to translate the field names in the infobox from English to Northern Sotho (nso). In the Afrikaans case 1 the template for the infobox shows “Amsbekleër” and “Termynaanvang” instead of “Incumbent” and “Assumed Office” as used in the English Cyril Ramaphosa page. In the Zulu case 2 the template for the infobox shows "Manje" and "Isikhathi". I would like to do something similar for the nso page for 3 but use the Northern Sotho words and not the Afrikaans or Zulu words. I looked at Designing_infoboxes which is where I saw the difference between a variable name ( FieldNameA1 ) and a variable value (FieldParameter). However I was not able to find where the FieldNames are defined in the infoboxes. It would seem the multiple levels of transclusion (if I have used the word correctly) hide where these FieldNames are actually defined.

So this is the question: Where does wikipedia define the FieldNames for the "Infobox officeholder" templates for all the different languages? Phillip (talk) 18:31, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ptpare: Languages can make templates independently with different features and implementation. I haven't examined the other languages but "Incumbent" and many other field names are defined with numbered labels in nso:Template:Infobox officeholder/office, e.g. label29 = Incumbent. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:11, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. The problem was finding the "/ office" in "nso : Template : Infobox officeholder / office "
Is there a list or an index somewhere which describes all these subpages or suffixes?
Phillip (talk) 20:33, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ptpare: If you edit a whole page or preview a page then the bottom of the window has an automatically generated list "Templates used on this page" or "Templates used in this preview". You may have to click a small triangle to see the list. Subtemplates like nso:Template:Infobox officeholder/office are included. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:36, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you once again for this. I seem to have got most of the field labels translated in the Northern Sotho version of the Cyril Ramaphosa page 4 .
However a small problem remains with the field labels in the Personal details section of the infobox / sidepanel / template. It would seem that this information has been embedded or transcluded from/in some other template or module. Do you perhaps know how I should go about searching for these field labels? I did edit "https://nso.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_person" but it would seem that this is not the template that is being used for the transclusion.
Phillip (talk) 19:05, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Ptpare: The article uses nso:Template:Infobox officeholder and some of the labels are defined there. The list of transcluded pages does not include nso:Template:Infobox person so it couldn't be that. The list is generated automatically by MediaWiki and will never miss pages. About how long will it take to approve an article?[edit]

Hello. I have meticulously written my first article, about Ramalingam Chellapa - Link. I am aware that it will possibly take 4 months for it to be approved, but how long has it been for you guys? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cattywampus23 (talkcontribs) 21:10, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Cattywampus23. There is no way to predict, because it depends on whether an individual volunteer happens to look at your draft and decide to review it. My guess is that it will be quite quick, because I believe that a reviewer will quickly conclude that you have only one independent source, and that is just a passing mention, so the reviewer will decline it. I may be wrong though. Notability requires several sources each of which is all three of reliable, independent of the subject, and containing significant coverage of the subject. Please sign your posts at talk and project pages. --ColinFine (talk) 21:18, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. This is the first time I've used the help desk, so pardon my non-singage. I will try to find more independent sources. Cattywampus23 (talk) 21:26, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

how do I format multiple proofs[edit]

I'm editing Bregman divergence, and there's a long section of proofs. Right now it's correct, but looks ugly. What would be a better way to format it? pony in a strange land (talk) 21:58, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cosmia Nebula, a good place to ask is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics. StarryGrandma (talk) 01:56, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox List Help[edit]

Hello, in my sandbox I'm creating a list of all current heads of state and government for myself just for fun. I need help figuring what I'm doing wrong, I've never made a list before and its not all aligned in the order I want. If someone with more experience can help me fix it I would really appreciate it. Thanks!--Orson12345 (TalkContribs) 22:29, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An alternative is to simply remove all occurrences of rowspan="2" | and rowspan="2" scope="row" |  Velella  Velella Talk   22:44, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
