How do we overcome this formatting anomaly?[edit]

A week or so ago I amended a caption beneath images in an infobox so that it read logically, as seen in the top screenshot on the right. The caption has since been edited so that it currently appears on my screen as in the bottom screenshot to the right The caption says there are three rows of photos when clearly there are only two. I'm using a desktop computer so I guess the infobox is displaying differently to me than for someone using a cellphone or tablet. Can anyone advise how this can be overcome so that the images will display in the same format on all devices. Incidentally, many of us are not tech geeks, so please be gentle.Moriori (talk) 00:42, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Moriori. I happen to use a desktop computer, and I see the three rows of images and their captions. You may want to refresh the page, or even wp:PURGE it.

Short version of PURGE: A null edit purges the target page (including category and backlink pages) if the page can be edited:

 1. Click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page.
 2. Click "Publish changes" at the bottom of the edit box without making any changes. --Quisqualis (talk) 01:31, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's six separate images with no control code so line wraps will depend on circumstances. I see 2+2+2 at default zoom but 3+3 or 4+2 if I zoom far out. The behaviour can be controlled with nowrap and line breaks: | image = <br />. Template:Infobox military conflict#Parameters says the parameter should only be a file name so other values like anything with multiple files may stop working at some time. Some infoboxes display a photo collage uploaded as a single file, but it requires image software and more work. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:00, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou PrimeHunter, that's it. It also occurred to me that regarding the two images at right above, some people may see vertical rows, but others like me with years of print editing/subediting experience are seeing conventional horizontal rows. Cheers. Moriori (talk) 02:38, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation dilemma[edit]

I am attempting to disambiguate the name "Michael Jackson" so that it does not appear as a DAB page link on this 1991 American football roster (as well as 1992, 1993, and 1994).

I don't notice any markup that is missing, and, in fact, two other players whose names have DAB pages, Richard Brown and Mike Johnson, are rendering as blue Wikilinks in that same roster.

Does anyone know how I can get Michael Jackson to render as a blue Wikilink in a football roster?--Quisqualis (talk) 00:53, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Quisqualis: like this? --Floquenbeam (talk) 01:05, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You got it. Thanks!--Quisqualis (talk) 01:13, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Olympic Games Qualifiers[edit]

Can you tell me where and when the first Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament for boxing was held? 65.48.166.68 (talk) 01:20, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Chernobyl disaster[edit]

Hello! I have problems with correcting the article about Chernobyl Disaster, I think the article is locked, can I do something about it? The data I want to provide is very useful and interesting. Thank You Beforehand! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lisa2503 (talkcontribs) 02:14, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Lisa2503: Welcome to Wikipedia. It always helps if you link to the article you are asking about. In any case, you can post your suggested change to the article's talk page and discuss it with other interested editors. I see you have already done that at Talk: Chernobyl_disaster RudolfRed (talk) 02:52, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours[edit]

Why does the track "Paagal" Sung by Indian rapper Badshah from music label "Sony Music India" is not in the list of most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours despite having 75 Million views which is allegedly highest among Every other YouTube video to reach in first 24 hours https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-viewed_online_videos_in_the_first_24_hours — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.68.29.180 (talk) 08:49, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please see List of most-viewed online videos in the first 24 hours#Controversy, which describes this event, and why it isn't on the list. As the song was the subject of advertisements on YouTube, it has been adjusted on YouTube's music charts, which is the basis of the YouTube view counts for that article. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 08:58, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft namespace[edit]

Hi there. I uploaded a new version of 'Population Data Science' which is appearing as 'Draft:Population Data Science'. Does this mean that the content will remain in Drafts until it is improved? If so, how do I know how to improve it? Also, does the draft at some stage automatically get moved to the Main namespace, or is it something I have to do? Many thanks Sharon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hindleysl (talkcontribs) 14:11, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The content will remain in a draft form until someone moves it into mainspace (where article are). Any editor that can move pages can do this, but you are strongly advised to submit it through articles for creation. This applies especially if this is your first new article, as problems can then be corrected whilst the article is in draft. ~~ OxonAlex - talk 14:32, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would endorse the comments from OxonAlex. You could usefully read the advice at WP:Your first article, & also look at the Manual of Style. One of the things you need to do before you submit for review is to remove the misplaced external links. It is possible that you may want to replace some of those by references. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:38, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you both, this is very helpful indeed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hindleysl (talkcontribs) 14:53, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
