Lockheed P-38 Lightning[edit]

Hi Folks, An editor, newly arrived, has removed some Japanese text (I assume) + a template from the following article: Lockheed P-38 Lightning‎ and that is used to provide a language translation of a phrase. This is a list of 20th Mormon missionaries, yet contains only a tiny sample of names. For example, I (kitchen, Philip James) served a mission from 1978-1980 in London England.

Hey anon. That's not really a list of every Mormon missionary ever. Instead it's a list of Wikipedia articles about Mormon missionaries. If a person does not qualify for a Wikipedia article, by meeting our standards for notability, then they cannot be added to the list. GMGtalk 13:56, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple coordinates within article body[edit]

Hi Folks, I have this wee ship article, MV Esso Hamburg. The ship is moving, under fire. I've put in two coordinates, where it has been oiling, but the page processing is reporting ''{{#coordinates:}}: cannot have more than one primary tag per page''. Any ideas. anxiety tab contribution labeled as "vandalism"[edit]

Dear Wiki,

Although you as an institution are not directly at fault, one of your 22-year-old editors (unnamed) has made an alarming mistake today.

I've offered a legitimate, true, accurate description of how some strains of cannabis lessen anxiety, which is an important footnote for intellectual advancement. There are numerous non-sourced blocks of information sporadically spread throughout Wikipedia, and they are not edited out or certainly not labeled as vandalism.

I've inquired with a real, licensed neuro-psychiatrist as to the question of how different cannabinoids can lessen anxiety, and he has confirmed that I am indeed right. There is a wealth of researchable sources online that can easily confirm this.

There are cannabinoids in cannabis that have both anxiolytic and anti-psychotic properties. This is truth and verified by a plethora of knowledgeable professionals in the psychiatric field, one of which I know personally and has confirmed the veracity of my claims.

As a frequent user of Wikipedia, I found the scoff at my contribution as "vandalism" uncalled for, and unequivocally unprofessional.


I will discontinue valuable contributions to Wikipedia in the case that it will be further marked as "vandalism".

This is deleterious to academic and intellectual progress of both this site, and Humankind.

Maybe in the future, the editor shouldn't be so quick to label someone as a vandal without doing their own research. I think jumping to label a legitimate contribution as "vandalism" encourages people not to use this site.

Although, not my fault. I hope that you make changes for your sake. That is, if you want people to keep using this site.

CLCStudent was correct to revert your edits, but incorrect to describe them as vandalism. He should have emphasised that the problem was that your change was unsourced. You say that "There are numerous non-sourced blocks of information sporadically spread throughout Wikipedia", but other stuff exists is not a reason for adding further unverified material to the encyclopedia; if you find unverified material elsewhere you are welcome to tag it appropriately, or remove it if verification isn't added. (edit conflict) Hello, Former Wikipedia frequenter. You added unsourced material to Anxiety disorder, (in fact, by adding unsourced material between a sentence and its citation, you invited any reader to infer that the already cited sources directly supported your claim). Our standard for verifiability is particularly high in medical articles, so CLCStudent properly reverted your edit, and left a notice on your talk page.
Unfortunately, rather than starting a discussion on the matter (which is the recommended practice: see BRD) you reapplied your edit. You presumably did not know this was not allowed, but that is the case; and CLCStudent reverted you again, with a stronger notice. Unfortunately the (prepackaged) notice they chose referred to vandalism, which was probably not appropriate: looking at your edits, they do appear to be in good faith. But an edit made and repeated by an anonymous user, without giving any explanation in the edit summary, often is vandalism. In any case they were again right to revert you: but a message explaining why your edit was not appropriate would have been more helpful.
I urge you now to begin a discussion on Talk:Anxiety disorder explaining the change you want to make, and (most importantly) giving a reliable published source for what you want to add. If you have such a source, it is likely that the consensus will be to add your information (though without the editorialising "note"); but if you have not, if you are sharing something from your own experience, then I'm afraid that Wikipedia does not accept original research.
As for withdrawing your sponsorship: that is entirely your choice, of course. But I hope you don't withdraw it on the basis of a couple of misunderstandings. We all make mistakes. --ColinFine (talk) 16:33, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(ec)This Wikipedia gets several edits every second, on average. Each editor does whatever tasks they choose to do. Of the 200,000 active editors this month, a few choose to look at new edits. This is difficult job, so they use tools and sometimes make snap judgements to keep up with the workload. CLCStudent was appararently operating at well over one edit per minute at the time he reverted your contribution, and if he and his colleagues slow down, we will get overwhelmed with cruft. I speculate that he saw an unusual, unsourced addition to a cannabis-related article and made the "vandalism" call based on a lot of experience. need help with making a page to be referred to from another page[edit]

Hello, my name is Bobby Gammonster, I am a Horror Host of a Internet TV show called Monster Movie Night. I have listed my name on the Horror Host site under the 2010s. But when my name comes up and is high lighted by the mouse it says page does not exist.How do I go about getting a page of myself put on Wikipedia? Please help. Hello, BGammonster-horrorhost. I'm afraid the simple answer is that you don't. Promotion of any kind is not permitted on Wikipedia. If you meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability (which is about whether people unconnected with you have chosen to publish in some depth about you), then we could have an article about you. It will not be your article, you will have no control over its contents (though you will be welcome to suggest edits for it), and it will be almost entirely based on what those independent sources say about you, not on what you say about yourself.
