January 7[edit]

Creating a page[edit]

One character from the Magnus Chase series has not had a Wikipedia page made about him. His name is Charlie, and he is a fan-made character used particularly on Wattpad. How would I go about creating a page for Charlie? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Punknico23 (talkcontribs) 07:33, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Advice is at WP:Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 08:02, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Warning messages[edit]

i am constantly getting massages about changes to wiki articles i never made "being undone". in-fact, i have never visited said articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.179.174.243 (talk) 10:55, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you read the note in italics on your user talk page, it explains about shared IP addresses and the advantage of creating an account. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:10, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Hello, Dynamic IP addresses can change frequently. Because of this, you may receive messages related to edits made by other people using the same IP. The best way to avoid this issue is to create an account. Eagleash (talk) 11:12, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Created a page[edit]

I have created a page namely Irfan Raza Ansari and the pages shows error i have written the source in the refrence section of the page please remove the error asap — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syedishujaat (talkcontribs) 12:38, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Syedishujaat, you have listed four sources in the reference section, but you have not cited them anywhere in the article. To learn how to do that, you could read Help: Referencing for beginners. Also, I see that the second and third sources you list are not what Wikipedia regards as reliable sources, and the fourth one does not mention the subject of the article. Maproom (talk) 12:52, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Syedishujaat, your article seems to be a copyright infringement of your one semi-independent source, and I'm not sure that an unidentified syndicated feed counts as a WP:reliable source. You need to find other sources, and summarise in your own words what they say. Dbfirs 13:36, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Need help over Nair article[edit]

1) need help correcting inaccurate and false statements like :

Pork was noted as a favourite food of the Nair.

This is not true and various reliable sources claim otherwise but only one source was taken into consideration

Also kindly note that Nairs are not a species of animals to have favourite food habbit like this.

2) Need help correcting the main article image for Nair.

The image does not represent the Nairs as a caste or set of castes -- neither does it display the traditional attire or any specific feature of Nairs.

Adding to it the image looks like it was put up to show the article in bad light.

Point to note - there was a consensus based on which the image was changed and replaced by another one. But recently the image was again changed by the editor/admin despite there being an earlier discussion/consensus deciding otherwise.

Please have a look in edit history for accurate proofs.

Content disputes should be discussed on the article's talk page. When consensus cannot be reached there, please read WP:DISPUTE to see what to do next. Jumping immediately to ANI is not the first step, and we at the help desk cannot do much more than to point you to WP:DISPUTE. -Arch dude (talk) 19:29, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Suranjan Das[edit]

The picture of Test Pilot Suranjan Das is not matching with the picture given in the link....Rather this is the picture of former Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University and present Vice Chancellor of Jadavpur University...please remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:205:621B:C4C5:0:0:53E:B0AD (talk) 16:11, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia article on Suranjan Das does not have a picture. If you are seeing a picture in a Google search, you need to raise that with Google, not with Wikipedia. There is a "Feedback" link. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:17, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification of titles and post-noms[edit]

Rather than fuel an editor's angst, or digress into an editing war, is there someone very experienced who could please tell me if:

1. something overrides MOS:POSTNOM, or if I am somehow misinterpreting it... ie: see Bill Gates post-nominals history, whom, as I read it, is entitled to post-nominals, though not to be styled as "Sir", not being British.
2. this sort of name restyling is advisable, which it does not appear to be to myself... ie: see Infobox top title, etc of Maurice Roche, 6th Baron Fermoy and his father, aka "The Lords..."

Both the post-nom deletions and the title re-stylings (either deleted, or given greater prominence) are on some editorial fast-track, it would appear. Thank you very much for advice.AHampton (talk) 20:33, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
