Not sure what's up - a page is (or isn't) being redirected, but it doesn't seem to be a cache or move issue.

At the bottom of my talk page, a user left a message about the article cashless society. I clicked to view the article but it follows an old redirect to Cashless Society (band) when I do so. However when I go directly to the article from the browser there's no redirect, and indeed the logs + histories of both pages don't show any redirect.

Can other people see this redirect from my TP, and if so, what's going on? (If not, why am I seeing it!)

It's the capital "S" in "Society". Cashless society is socioeconomics, Cashless Society, in title case, is taken to be a proper name and redirects to the band. 71.41.210.146 (talk) 01:47, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

How do I get back to the wikitext editor?

I make 99% of my edits in the Visual Editor. Today I needed to use the classic wikitext editor for something. Clicking the Edit tab while in the VisualEditor used to take me there - now it doesn't. If you are referring to the Visual Editor, Login, uncheck Temporarily disable the visual editor while it is in beta, optionally change Editing mode to Show me both editor tabs, and save your preferences see WP:VE for more information. TiggerJay (talk) 08:13, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Quote within a quote

Normally, a quote within a quote is handled with double-quotes encapsulating single-quotes; however, using the {{quote}} template necessitates not having external double-quote marks. The question is: should the internal quotes remain as single marks or be changed to double? The specific example (from here), also contains song titles which normally would be in double-quotes:

What you are describing is basically quotation marks within a block quote. Per MOS:QUOTEMARKS within {{quote}} you would use the original, source quotation marks, so if they're single then use single, if double - use double. Match the source. But again this is only in blcokquote form. Your understanding of single-inside-double is accurate for short quotations. TiggerJay (talk) 08:07, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi there - I fixed the problem with this edit. The flagicon was in the wrong spot, and there was an extra pipe (|) in there, which means 'new column' in wikitable syntax. Is there a reason you switched around the Pin and Time rows for Tozawa and Johnson? I ask since I'm pretty clueless when it comes to wrestling / where the Pin mark belongs. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 08:15, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

I have extended a quote from a reliable source already on this page. Unfortunately, a subsequent editor was not aware and accidently deleted this additional information - citing no reliable sources!!! The information/source is clearly in the references - particularly ref. number 22 which has the full quote about the coronations - and other refs: 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27. I see now that a new editor - Luis150902 - has fixed it all up which is great. But the edit is "pending". 101.182.188.199 (talk) 09:03, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Hello, 101.182.188.199. My fixing was not accepted because I was fixing errors in the editing of a IP user and because I'm not a pending changes reviewer (= user that can accept pending changes). I'm not a new user because I'm registered for over a year (since 2015-09-02) and made 847 edits. Chinese stealth fighter: J-31 vs FC-31 nomenclature

Nearly two months ago, I indicated an apparent error in the name of a new Chinese aircraft, called on Wikipedia Shenyang J-31, based on a lot of sources. However, a well-documented military expert, specialist of the Chinese defense, explained on his website why such name in in reality incorrect despite its wide use: http://www.eastpendulum.com/la-fin-du-programme-shenyang-fc-31

Indeed, as he explains, the name J-xx in the Chinese military nomenclature implies a program that has been approved and financed by the Chinese army, and this name is given directly by the army. It is equivalent to what is observed in the US Army. For example the Eurocopter EC145 is called UH-72 Lakota in the US nomenclature. But the internal reference in Eurocopter remains 'EC145'.

To come back to the 'J-31', the problem is that this model has neither been financed, neither been accepted by the Chinese army. As consequence, the name 'J-31' in incorrect. Thus, we should refer to this aircraft under its Aviation Industry Corporation of China internal reference 'FC-31', also considering that Shenyang is now trying to sell this model to foreign countries. For the same reasons and in the name way, the FC-1 developed for the export market by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group (subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China) has never been called 'J-1' but always 'FC-1'.

As consequence, I suggest: 1) to rename the article Shenyang J-31 as 'Shenyang FC-31', 2) avoid from now to use the name 'J-31'. If other websites want to continue to use erroneously the name 'J-31', that's their choice, but it is incorrect, 3) possibly include somewhere in the article a small sentence or small section explaining why the name 'J-31' is not correct, despite a wide use.

I've read the article, but my point-of-view is that for this article, Wikipedia is responsible for sharing and propagating an information that we know to be wrong, because it is not a nickname like for the Beetle, it is an error from journalists or bloggers that are not doing their job properly. That's their choice, but Wikipedia should keep its articles correct and without errors. Which is presently not the case. Moreover, the Chinese version of Wikipedia calls it FC-31, the aircraft is sold by AVIC as FC-31, and the aircraft is not in service in the Chinese air force. Lastly, there is an increase trend to call it FC-31. As example, a recent article from the French journal Le Monde says in its first sentence: 'an improved version of the FC-31 Gyrfalcon, previously known as J-31, maid its first flight Friday in Shenyang'.Ndiver (talk) 23:40, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Our job is not to decide what is correct or incorrect, but to relate what reliable sources say about a subject. The article's talk page is the best place for this discussion. In my opinion, the article is adequate the way it is currently; with sourced explanation of the nomenclature. This is an unusual case. Unless somebody can produce a proper registered type certificate per the Project guide, policy obliges us to go with WP:COMMONNAME. In essence, our policy is "verifiability not truth".— Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 15:26, 29 December 2016 (UTC)

The WP:WikiProject Aircraft/Naming says: 'Do not use nicknames or foreign reporting names'. J-31 can be considered as an erroneous foreign reporting name, additionally to the fact that the article says: 'Its official name is Shenyang FC-31'. Lastly, all the last recent articles of famous websites related to aircrafts or defense like FlightGlobal or Jane's now call it FC-31 (claiming the first prototype to be called J-31). Font size in German Wikipedia smaller than in other language versions

Hello, I am a translator and I read Wikipedia in several languages. This morning, while reading an article in English I switched to the German version of the same article to find out a name in German. Somehow, my fingers hit a key or a key combination and the text appeared in a very small font size that made it difficult to read the answer. Can you help me to resolve this problem? Try holding CTRL + 0. If that doesn't work, try CTRL + Shift + 0. Those should reset the size. If that doesn't work, hold down CTRL and move the scroll wheel on your mouse or trackball up and down. Ian.thomson (talk) 09:56, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

You need to use the 0 (zero) on the top line of your keyboard, if you have a numberpad on the RHS using that zero does not normally work - Arjayay (talk) 15:34, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Read what it says. The infobox in Hassan Rouhani correctly says that Nicolás Maduro succeeded him as Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement. See e.g. http://www.un.org/press/en/2016/sgsm18071.doc.htm where the position is called Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:52, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Login problems

I have forgotten my password and applied to reset it. The automatic message says that it has sent a new password to my email. But I haven't received anything. The same thing happened about 4 years ago, when I got a new computer, and so I gave up on Wikipedia for several years. But, eventually I created a new user account. At that time, admin said there was nothing I could do to reset the passwword. Is it really necessary for me to create a new account every time I get a new computer? Surely there must be a simpler way? (I contribute substantive content to Wikipedia for about 2 hours per day.) To be clear, we do NOT need to see your full email address. But if you tell us what email provider (gmail, etc) you're using it might help us tell you specifically where to look. But generically, you will need to search places like your spam, junk, or promotional folders/filters in your email program. Also in order for it to email you a new password, you must have associated your email address with Wikipedia which is optional. So basically, if you didn't associate an email address to your account, the admin was right that your only option is to create a new account. TiggerJay (talk) 21:27, 28 December 2016 (UTC)
