Need to rename picture file[edit]

I named this picture file (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:McKinney_McDonald_House.jpg) wrong and can't figure out how to change it. It should be named "Henry Beissner House" (talk) 00:20, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I can move files at the English Wikipedia but as the page says, "This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons". You uploaded it to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:McKinney_McDonald_House.jpg so it has to be renamed by a Commons administrator or file mover. See commons:Commons:File renaming. I'm not sure what your question means. Are you referring to the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony? There is mention in the last paragraph of The End (The Beatles song)#Legacy and 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony#Lighting of the Olympic cauldron. Breaker Morant (film)[edit]

I changed the article to link - to David Stevens, one of the writers of the movie.

I received an email from someone saying that Wiki has no article on "David Stevens" and that the links - - had been removed.

But I see an article in Wiki about the writer in question - David Stevens screenwriter:

David Stevens is a 'dab' page. Some robot software may revert you, email you, send you kittens, etc. You can turn email off in preferences if you wish. There are settings for user to user email as well as email if your talk page is changed. The bot may have changed your talk page is all. If you want to link to a Wiktionary article from a Wikipedia article about the same term, you should use {{wikt}}. If you just want to link to a dictionary definition in the body of an article, Aracandam's syntax above is correct, but do note that it's almost always poor style to link dictionary definitions on the assumption that readers will be unfamiliar with a word's meaning. Roswell UFO Incident/Sunrise[edit]

Over the past week or so there has been a contribution (Sunrise) which appears to be advertising a new publication on Roswell. This has been deleted several times by Canada Jack, Tembrae, Ginger Maine Coon and myself on the basis of marketing ploy and "undue weight". However, the material keeps being re-inserted by different unregistered addresses.

Can this page be protected for a couple of weeks to prevent this advertising?

See WP:RFP to request protection. And also, using curly braces will not display a link to a user page. I think what you meant to do was display them as User:Canada Jack and so on. Dismas|^(talk) 09:20, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Doppelgänger accounts[edit]

Pizza Hut inc page[edit]

Tricon seems to be mentioned in History of Pizza Hut, which has the detailed history. If you mean this article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/ShoeCareSupplies.com, it has not been submitted for review yet - but it won't get past the review in any case. It reads like an advertisement, is totally lacking in sources, and fails to provide evidence that the subject meets Wikipedia notability guidelines - in this case Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). To be frank, I doubt that your business stands much chance of doing so, but I recommend you read this for yourself. While I wish you well in your enterprise, it isn't Wikipedia's function to provide free advertising, and any articles are 'ours' rather than belonging to the subject of the article - and have to be based on third party reliable sources (to establish notability, amongst other things), and be written in a neutral and encyclopaedic tone. No log entry for a deleted (?) image[edit]

What happened to File:Hazard City Hall in Hazard, Kentucky.jpg? I can't find a log entry for it here or at Commons, but because of my experience with block logs that can't be seen when I'm logged out (see the "Why isn't the bot working right?" section above), I'm wondering if it's there but visible only to logged-in users. The Dark Knight Rises (novel)[edit]

Hi, I believe that the article The Dark Knight Rises (novel) is unnecessary and repeating the information of the movie's article. The movie article at The Dark Knight Rises is only Semi-protected, and you should be autoconfirmed, so there shouldn't be any problems for you to edit it. But, before you make this change, you should propose it on one of the article's talk page and get consensus. Your follow-up confuses me. This may be my failing but it sounds like you think you (and/or others) are prevented from editing this fully-protected article based on some setting on your account, such as a log of vandalism, while other non-administrator editors are permitted to edit it. That's not how protection functions. No one but an administrator (or higher access level) can edit a fully protected article: It's a blanket prohibition. If you look at the protection log entry, it was imposed with the edit summary note: "chaotic editing, multiple parties violating 3RR".--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:53, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait until the protection is removed (or reduced). However, if you have something very specific (and uncontroversial) that you think would improve the article immediately, you can ask for its addition second hand by going to the talk page, placing the template {{Edit protected}}, and making a clear and specific request below it. You would need to say exactly what content should go where, or what should be changed or removed.
