Rich Price[edit]

Add Rich Price Im new to this and have really bad editing skills. But I came on here to read up on Rich price and found he wasnt even on here. He's a great singer and has done many great songs and music for movies ad's and Tv Shows. Including " Shrek 2,In Plain Sight," MTV's "Real World" and in TV commercials (including Bridgestone Tires, Subaru, Macy's, Vineyard Vines and more). Here's his site link. A Fan :)

how to join a wikipedia classroom group?[edit]

According to WP:NOSHARE, accounts shared by multiple people are generally forbidden. You should create an account as yourself, not as a classroom group. JIP | Talk 05:51, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what terminology your teacher has used but "account" would be unfortunate at Wikipedia when it's not about a single user account. You removed Example User so I restored it. New Article[edit]

I want to put up a page about my father, the sports writer and journalist, Simon Smith.

I wrote my father's obituaries when he died in 2001. They appeared in The Scotsman, The Times and The Telegraph. My article is based on those three obituaries, but varies slightly.

I tried pasting-up my article, but came into difficulties when I attempted to add the 'sources'. What am I doing wrong?

I find your user's website very complicated and confusing.

Your best bet is to put your draft in a subpage of your user space, for example at User:Eastervale/Simon Smith (journalist), and then if you are struggling with the references, post the information you have re the sources at the draft's talk page and ask for help again. But because of your conflict of interest, you should not really be writing the article yourself. You could try WP:Requested articles, but I believe there is a long backlog. You could use WP:AFC. Please carefully read WP:BESTCOI and WP:FIRST; it's hard to be neutral with a conflict of interest, but it's possible... stick to facts, supported by independent reliable sources. Hello, I just created an article at User:PedroMarinho/Chemical Safety Report. I was reading the page Chemical safety assessment and noted that it did not exist. However, it is just a definition, I do not know if it deserves an article of its own; probably an edit on Chemical safety assessment would be more logical? Thanks! Style issue[edit]

When a person's name uses the lower case 'de' (e.g. Eamon de Valera or Reginald de Veulle), what is the MoS format when the first name is dropped re: capitalising the 'de'?

Appears that if is starts a sentence it is capitalised - e.g. "De Valera was a leader of Ireland's struggle for independence..." but if mid-sentence, lower case is used e.g. "To strengthen his position against the opposition in the Dáil and Seanad, de Valera called a snap election...".

However, on Thomas de Quincey the surname is nearly always capitalised to De Quincey, e.g. "In 1800, De Quincey, aged fifteen...".

Regular password expiration[edit]

As a new user, I am wondering if my Wikipedia user password expires after a certain period of time (for example do you hae a policy that requires users to update their password every 90 days)? Personally, I'm hoping the answer is no.

I've had the same password for almost 7 years (I created my account in April of 2005 and haven't changed the password). And all I can find is how to recover a password and how to change it. No mention I can find of an password expiration policy.Naraht (talk) 19:14, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Those e-books were recently removed from his biography as External Links.

A second opinion is needed. There appears to be a conflict between this biophysicist and the editor that made the deletions, see: "Was there once an animated gif ..." at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kraaiennest. Kraaiennest on Commons is "Crowsnest" on Wikipedia.

Crowsnest appears to be a consultant in the multi-billion dollar Ocean Wave Power industry. A few years ago, that was an academic interest of the biophysicist. There does not seem to be another explanation for the stalking and deletions unless it involves a basic theist / atheist difference making "Questions of a Christian Biophysicist" offensive to some people.

As a new editor that has been watching this censorship unfold, I do not think I have the experience to state wiki policy on External Links or even to begin the second oponion or possible arbitration.

How do I shrink the font on Wikipedia?[edit]

While reading Wikipedia in Firefox, try choosing the menu items View --> Zoom --> Reset. Jc3s5h (talk) 18:19, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Or hold down Ctrl while you press the '-' key or scroll down on the mouse wheel. You probably made it larger by accident with Ctrl and scroll up or '+'. Ctrl and '0' returns to default size. Please help me help - re "Articles for creation"[edit]

There was a backlog of 650 in CAT:AFC 2 days ago; I cleared it, and have kept doing so.

However, I've had over 100 enquiries on my talk - that is, all the ones beginning "Your review at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/...".

I'm trying to answer them. But, really, I can't cope.

I do not care if you agree or disagree with my choice in 'accepting' or 'declining' the AFC. I'm quite happy if others 'accept' something I have declined - that is, just move it live.

Or, tell the user why it's not acceptable.

That's all that is needed; and yes, I've answered most/all of the queries. So why am I asking here?

'coz there's c. 100 mostly-new users, asking for help adding to our project, on my user talk. I've given some advice, but more would be beneficial.

TL;dr is "Please help the users that have asked for help on User talk:Chzz". I've answered some, but not comprehensively. They could use more help and guidence.

Why do you insult folks who simply misspell a word when entering a search? That is quite asinine...actually, the reason I conducted the search was because I didn't know if the name was spelled Clayborne or Claiborne Carson. I have a feeling the title was deliberately misspelled. If you search "Claiborne Carson", which is mentioned in the message, a message saying, "Did you mean: Clayborne carson" appears at the top of the page. He is actually referring to Wikipeetia - The Misspelled Encyclopedia, which is not a part of Wikipedia. Neither is it a project under the Wikimedia Foundation. It is a fork of Wikipedia which uses content taken from the English Wikipedia since all the text here are published under a free license reusable by anyone who wants to do so.

It depends on the picture. Some are public domain. Some are released under a licence. If you click on the picture you're interested in, it will tell if it is public domain or which license applies. (edit conflict) As 15.251.201.73 says, that depends on the picture in question. It is best to look at the image description page. For example, I released this image I created under a license which allows you to use it for any purpose, including commercial use without giving attribution or this one, which you can use for anything that's permissible under law. Other images are released under licenses which require you to provide attribution to the copyright holder, but can then be used for any purpose and some images are copyrighted and used under a claim of fair use on wikipedia, so they cannot generally be reused without permission from the copyright holder. This shows there are many possibilities and as I said at the beginning it really depends on the picture in question. I hope this is a helpful answer. You're always free to copy anything that's in the public domain. However, you must be careful to ensure that the image in question is really in the public domain. Be sure to use only things that are marked as being released into the public domain by the creator or as being in the public domain in the United States. As Toshio says, some copyrighted images on Wikipedia are free to use essentially as long as you mention the creator's name, but if you want no restrictions at all, you mustn't use anything that's copyrighted. Hello - I am trying to find out how to save a Wikipedia "book" once I've created one so that I can go back and add to it later. I know how to create one, just not how to save, access and add to it later. Any ideas? It's blunt, but I can't think of any other way that one might say that one has that feeling about it. Disputes about the value/appropriateness of certain bits of content are common...discussing them on the talk-page associated with the article (Talk:Namibia for Namibia) is a good place to collect everyone's thoughts on the matter. It is also factually incorrect, South Africa does not border on Zambia at all. The four countries that meet at that point are: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
