Dates federal budget was signed by presidents[edit]

How do I get somebody to do the research and add it to Wikipedia on Dates federal budget was signed by presidents — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uthajohn (talkcontribs) 03:29, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We are all volunteers. Maybe just do the research yourself? Maproom (talk) 07:56, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Racism and Pan-Turkism[edit]

Hello,

I am writing regarding the following article.

Bulgars (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

It is NOT based on any facts, racist and it is based on Pan-Turkish propaganda. The author locked the article so no one can edit it. Please remove it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paraliza (talkcontribs) 05:27, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see no evidence of Turkish propaganda there, unless you object to the statement that the Bulgars were of Turkic origin. Note that the article is not about the Bulgarians, a Slavic people. Maproom (talk) 08:07, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The article is semiprotected due to vandalism, which means it can be edited by anyone with an autoconfirmed account. If you wish to discuss the wording or sources of the article, its talk page is the place to start. - Karenjc 08:31, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Ring Wales Rugby Union International[edit]

His rudeness towards coach Ron Waldron was due to the focus on physical fitness, not Ring's strength. Knee injuries, which had ruined his 1985-86 and 1988-89 seasons, hampered his performance and that tournament marked the end of his international career.

I feel this has been added to my profile by someone with a personal grudge against me! I have no idea why personal conflict with one of six Wales Coaches i played under, should be highlighted in my International Profile? Furthermore, it is offencive and incorrect. The records will show i was consistently in the the top 3 squad players with the best aerobic capacity throughout my International career. Problems which led to a breakdown of respect for the Coach in question, had nothing to do with my personal physical fitness. Waldron's public criticism of my playing style, which did not suit the way he wished to play was the factor that caused the rift between both parties. As for the knee injuries which 'hampered his performance' the knee was structurally sound. A fresh cartiliage injury, which happened during the final warm-up game against France (3 weeks before the first match) in Cardiff, meant i was rushed in for an immediate operation, forced to endure 3 weeks of rehab with no endurance training, which ultimately contributed to a lack of conditioning, further highlighted during the final quarter of the 'must win' final group match against Australia. Following a first round group match defeat against Western Samoa in Cardiff, where as the front line goal-kicker, (having missed some penalty goal attempts) i came in for some criticism, that would be fair to accept but to read on wikipedia, on my own personal profile, incorrect and inaccurate text is disappointing, to say the least. I sincerely hope, someone with a better insight into some relevant text with regards to my International Playing career can assist in editing my current profile, which is borderline defamation of character! Regards, Mark Ring — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.139.38 (talk) 09:34, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You should not edit an article about yourself, see conflict-of-interest. But as the first sentence your removed makes little sense, and the second cites no sources, I shan't argue with their deletion. Maproom (talk) 11:08, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong spelling of the first name of Xhemail Mustafa[edit]

Greetings,

There is a wiki biography about Xhemail Mustafa but his first name was misspelled as Xhemajl. I'm his son and would like this to be corrected.

Regards, Besian Mustafa Besianm (talk) 11:55, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that someone had just misspelled the name. I've moved the page, but it still needs lots of work. If you can edit with a neutral point of view and supply reliable sources, you are free to edit the page, but please read our conflict of interest policy first. wrong Chase Daniels[edit]

The Chase Daniels listed as someone from Kentucky is erroneous. The Chase Daniels from Kentucky is female and her real name is Tamaro Tatum (Chase Daniels was her radio name ). Also, she has had a more prestigious career, having won broadcasting awards, worked at more top-rated and diverse formats and has not only worked in Atlanta but also on the national level at XM (now SiriusXM). She also retired from radio in 2008.

The Chase Daniels listed on this site is from Jacksonville, FL, and has only worked in Florida and Atlanta.

The Chase Daniels from Kentucky had a Wiki page but it must have been erased and taken over by the other Chase Daniels from Florida ...yet it is still linked to the Kentucky page.

Please correct this error. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.18.150.53 (talk) 12:14, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the change was made by a one-edit account in 2010, here. - Karenjc 15:18, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with the unblock template[edit]

See here. I declined an unblock attempt and made some sort of coding error; my rationale for declining it got spelled out as the name of a template to be substituted, which (given the length of my rationale) not surprisingly doesn't exist. What did I do wrongly? I'd appreciate someone fixing it; since I've already declined it, and since I told the editor that someone might be coming along to fix it, please feel free to fix it without worry about procedural issues if you're not an admin, since you'll only be doing housekeeping that I was trying to do in the first place. Profession added to Biographical Article[edit]

I contributed a biographical article and the person's profession (economist) was added after her name before it was accepted. The article appears to now only be searchable if you use "karen davis" and "economist." Is it critical that her profession be part of the article title? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Christinefh (talkcontribs) 18:14, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is already an article with the name Karen Davis, so it's necessary to add something to the title to make it different. You can add the new article to the disambiguation page at Karen_Davis_(disambiguation) so that people looking for Karen Davis can find the article on the economist. RudolfRed (talk) 18:21, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks!Christinefh (talk)
We have other ways of "disambiguating" (that is, adding text to the end to separate people with the same name), but in general, adding people's professions to the end of the article names is the most convenient way. Another common method is to use the middle initial. For example, if her middle name were Mary, it would be perfectly workable to use Karen M. Davis, because we have no article with that title right now. Nyttend (talk) 18:27, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Terrific, I'll do that.Christinefh (talk) 18:36, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Check-user[edit]

Hello English Wikipedia. I don't know if this is the right place to write this, but I need some help from a steward. I want a check-user for Costas78 and 3 ips:

a) 94.65.173.245

b) 94.65.131.131

c) 94.65.154.242

Do they match??

Please respond ASAP.

Thanks.

meta:SRCU is the place to ask; a CheckUser is not needed to get the link between them (if there's any).--Jasper Deng (talk) 18:44, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much Jasper! I could remember that there was a page like that, but i didn't remember its name or something else. Thank you sincerely.--Το αλλήθωρο οπόσουμ (talk) 19:06, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Login problems[edit]

My previous login details are not working and after trying a number of different things I gave up and tried to open a new account. However, I wanted to use my previously registered user name or ID but it would not let me, stating that user name was already taken. I seem to be stumped.19:48, 2 August 2012 (UTC)19:48, 2 August 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.187.211.10 (talk)

Try following the directions at WP:USURP. It is unlikely you'll get the name you had before, but I don't really know how all of that works.— Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:27, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Company article - infobox or prose?[edit]

I want to expand a stub about a company. I think I could add some information as values for the parameters in Template:Infobox company. Should I add an infobox to the article or should I include that information in the stubs body using prose? Is there any guideline regarding this matter? -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 20:59, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've always been of the opinion that the infobox should be a summary, and not used instead, of good prose. That is, anything that is included in an infobox should probably also be covered by well-written prose in the article. It is something like the lede section of the article: a quick summary of the key data points, but not a substitute for good writing. There may be good reasons to put something in the main body that wouldn't end up in an infobox, but most information in an infobox could easily be expanded and included in the main body of the article. --Jayron32 21:03, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm unclear on why it has to be one or the other and not both... Dismas|(talk) 21:08, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The above two comments are correct. The infobox is exactly like the lead. It should reflect the information in the article. It is more of an "at a glance" than a holder for information. Ryan Vesey 21:19, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the replies. The article in question is Animation International where I thought about listing the locations where the company is active / has offices from [1], perhaps under some infobox parameter (not sure whether area_served would be the best parameter for this). Personally I would also prefer stating that information using prose. -- Toshio Yamaguchi (tlkctb) 21:46, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Conflicts when Un-doing my edits[edit]

Recently whenever I made an edit I realized was not very constructive or I didn't like I would un-do those edits. But recently whenever I made an Un-do then the page would say EDIT CONFLICT. Then when I checked the history to see who edited the edit that conflicted was the edit I was trying to make. What is the nature of this problem. Is this a site wide glitch or is it my computer. ZSpeed (talk) 21:52, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you clicking save twice? - Purplewowies (talk) 00:15, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just a thought, but you can't undo an edit using the method of stopping it by pressing the save button again once you have saved the first time. If you have saved the edit you have to wait for the save to complete and then undo it like any other edit. Britmax (talk) 08:45, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

So you cant double click? ZSpeed (talk) 13:40, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Font conversion?![edit]

Hi there,

It has come to my attention that when I search something in Traditional Chinese in Google, the Google result will show the text in Traditional Chinese, but once I click on the Wiki link, the target page will be shown in Traditional Chinese for a few seconds before being auto-redirected to a Simplified Chinese. No offence but WTH?

This has been going on for at least 4 years and it didn't change when I sign in and set my wiki preference to Traditional Chinese. Any idea what is going on?

Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.84.199.224 (talk) 22:44, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are you logged in at the Chinese Wikipedia when you see it? Have you set the preference at the second language box at zh:Special:Preferences where you can only choose between Chinese variants? PrimeHunter (talk) 22:59, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
