information Note: The correct copyrignt tag would be {{PD-textlogo}}. But this logo is possibly copyrighted in the UK per Commons:COM:TOO UK. It should be uploaded on English Wikipedia. Hey Dave, there is no public file of the flag anywhere. The one that is currently on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmira,_New_York was created by Souldrifter02 to represent the Elmira Flag, so I created this version as an update to better represent what is actually flying in Elmira and is in city hall, using the official seal.   • Hey anon. It's not sufficient merely that this image appears on a US government website. We need a source specifically saying that this is an official work created by a US government employee. For example, this work includes clear attribution, but where the image you request appears on this page it includes no attribution whatsoever. GMGtalk 12:30, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

    @Masumrezarock100: The problem is that not all content included on government websites is the original creation of a US government employee, created as part of their official duties. That's the bit that makes it public domain. Government websites can and often do use images under a claim of fair use, or simply by virtue of the fact that they don't correctly understand copyright law. Alternatively, this might be an image owned by the DoE, but it may have been a work-for-hire or the work of a private contractor. In both cases, the image would most likely not be public domain. @GreenMeansGo: There is nothing in the website regarding it's copyrignt status. Nothing about fair use either. I think it's safe to assume that it's a work of an employee of the Federal government.  Not done @Blacknatty: There is no indication on that page that the author has dedicated this work to the public domain.
