The matter isn't whether the text and the sample are different or same. Well, I cited the "minimal number of items" criterion, which says that a non-free content must not convey equivalent significant information, as one of reasons for deletion. Text and sample may or may not provide same info, but I bet there'll be disagreements. The song title, the band name, and text content already suffice to convey same info that the sample does: what the song is expected to be, and what we can learn about the song before listening the actual recording(s). Compare those elements to those of a movie poster or a video cover art.

Actually, the bigger issue than that is the sample's (in)ability to be "contextually significant" to the song in question. De-PRODded by admin with this rationale: Text does not have the same impact as hearing part of the chorus of this important and influential rock song from one of most important bands of the 1960s and 70s. It's iconic. As "iconic" the song has been, I still have trouble believing that the chorus in the sample would improve understanding of the whole song, "The Weight", and that omitting the whole sample would detriment/harm such understanding. Even meeting the "critical commentary" rule still wouldn't make the sample "contextually significant", IMO.

Re-reading WP:NFC#CS, this comes down to "due weight" and "balance" provided by the article, even with two common circumstances. The "Composition" section seems as if it justifies using the sample, but it's more about the whole lyrics than what is entailed in the whole portion itself. Furthermore, even the lyrics of the chorus would be easier to summarize than perceived to be (difficult?). George Ho (talk) 21:58, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete: The reason for deletion is too long. Not all users (include admins) understand the reason to support deleting (or deleting) the sample. As said on Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2024 April 22, The render of contextual significance may vary per reader. Kys5g talk! 02:55, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is "Fails WP:NFCC#8" a short, concise reason to delete it? If not, what about "Sample not contextually significant to understanding the whole song"? George Ho (talk) 04:33, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
