This image only contains simple text/shapes and is thus ineligible for copyright due to being below the required threshold of originality. License should thus be changed to {{PD-textlogo}}. 2600:1700:9DD0:8FD0:15CC:1B1:4313:1154 (talk) 01:31, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to fail WP:NFCC8, does not increase readers knowledge about the topic. Probably the same as previous, deleted version. cc @Whpq:. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 09:05, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delele - different image, but same problem. This non-free image is not needed to understand the article, and so fails WP:NFCC#8. -- Whpq (talk) 12:41, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Article is best represented with a speech by the current monarch, I see nothing that fails NFCC#8 and heavily dispute Whpq's claims. This whole conversation is an absolute witch hunt. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pickmyusernameidc2022 (talkcontribs) 22:11, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious own work without EXIF data. Originally uploaded as a non-free work, and then changed license. The "Permission" field in the description says "Dragan Raca" , and a crop seems to be in use on the subject's official page. Felix QW (talk) 13:16, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Since a book is a 3D object, it seems to me that there is copyright attached to this particular photo, which is clearly not a flat depiction of the two-dimensional cover.

I have uploaded an image of the title illustration as File:Dymer frontispice.jpg which could be used in Dymer (poem) instead of this image. Felix QW (talk) 15:05, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The image was first published in Japan in 1938, so from the perspective of the URAA cut-off date of 1996 Japanese copyright law is relevant. As we know the author, a "correspondent Hayashi" from Ahasi Shimbun newspaper, the image would be PD in the US only if the correspondent had died before 1946, which is possible, but by no means clear. Withdraw I would like to withdraw the nomination, as I have now discovered the specific rules of template:PD-Japan-oldphoto, which are not mentioned (but perhaps could be) in template:PD-Japan. Felix QW (talk) 18:47, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Derivative work of the illustrations on the tokens. I would say that at least the top left one is above the threshold of originality, but as the two bottom row ones are clearly not, one could crop the image accordingly. Felix QW (talk) 16:00, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm bringing this up for discussion as I think that this file has an expired copyright and does not need to be hosted as non-free. There was a discussion on Commons involving this logo in the context of a derivative work (a license plate). The discussion attained a consensus that the hat-in-a-bat logo is {{PD-US-not-renewed}} and the derivative work containing it (the license plate) was in the public domain as well. Since EnWiki is not Commons, I'd like to open up a discussion here to label this logo as being in the public domain for reasons of failing to adhere to copyright formalities. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 16:43, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Migrate to Commons as a public domain image per Red-Tailed Hawk's excellent detective work in the referenced Commons discussion. Felix QW (talk) 17:29, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Unclear copyright status. No prejudice to restoration if anyone can provide a reliable source proving that this file is indeed PD, with details including author, publication date, and country of origin. -FASTILY 22:13, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Image is not a (simple) logo, and there is no indication of a Creative Commons license at the immediate source. Putting it here for discussion as the image may or may not be in public domain due to age. Ixfd64 (talk) 19:40, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Until 1997, the copyright term for photographs in Algeria was 10 years from publication (see this template). So if we believe that the photograph had been published by 1987, we can keep it with the appropriate licensing template. Felix QW (talk) 20:20, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
