Non-free image of a deceased person being used in Canadian federal election, 1974 and Robert Stanfield. The non-free use in the article about Stanfield himself seems fine per item 10 of WP:NFCI because non-free images of deceased persons are generally considered OK when they are used as the primary means of identification. However, the consensus etablished about such image use in articles about individual elections has in previous FFD discussions generally has been that this type of usage is not allowed just for visual identification purposes in the infobox. Moreover, the non-free use rationale provided for the election article this edit claims that the file is needed " for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of his/her biographical article" which is not the case at all. Suggest keep for the article about Stanfield and remove from the election article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:36, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: The editor who added the non-free use rationale for the election article has reverted their edit and also removed the file, so that it is now only being used in the Stanfield article. This discussion can probably be closed now unless anyone has any further comments. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:57, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. You don't need to delete a non-free file, just because it is being used incorrectly. 117Avenue (talk) 02:46, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • I didn't suggest that the file be deleted. I only suggested it be removed from the election article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:06, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
