Practical duplicate of Commons ( which is at a much higher resolution.). Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:23, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I think it is a very bad idea to upload {{keep local}} files which block higher resolution copies of the same files on Commons. I'm not sure what FFD policy says about deleting such files. WP:CSD says that the file is ineligible for WP:CSD#F8, but the CSD policy doesn't apply to deletion discussions. The WP:OWN policy applies to deletion discussions, though. --Stefan2 (talk) 17:43, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete local copy to let Commons higher-resolution image thru. This user only tagged it as keep local because they had a bone to pick with Commons. And the user apparently tagged all of their uploads this way. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 03:13, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

While this photograph is no doubt the work of the photographer/ uploader, the underlying work is almost certainly the copyright-protected work of the Scillonian III ferry and therefore represents a copyright violation. For the same reason a person cannot take a picture of a Mickey Mouse toy and claim the photograph has an independent copyright, neither can an independent copyright claim be made for this image. No claim of fair use is being made, and neither is a claim of derivative work copyright. Therefore, Wikipedia cannot host it. KDS4444Talk 09:31, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep This logo is obviously more complex than File:EDGE magazine (logo).svg which was deemed to be copyrightable in the United Kingdom by a British court. The letters seem to be about equally complex and then there is the stylistic line below the text. There is no chance that this is free in the source country. --Stefan2 (talk) 18:05, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Has been flagged as "derivative work incorporating another work [...] no information on the source(s) of the incorporated work(s)" for a year and a half, I'm not sure if this fell through a crack somewhere. No obvious way of knowing whether the uploader is the developer genuinely releasing this screenshot as public domain, a screenshot of a game genuinely released as PD, or someone just not knowing what public domain means. McGeddon (talk) 22:30, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actually it looks like the uploader also claimed to be the copyright holder of a 1987 magazine cover and released that into the public domain too (it's been sorted out since), so this is probably just a random screenshot. --McGeddon (talk) 22:32, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
