Reason: It's a contemporary illustration of a tragedy, and covers a very poorly-discussed part of United States history. Strong documentary value. The description mentions photos, but there's no evidence they still exist (and likely would have been of the aftermath, not the event itself) and this is long-standing as the lead of the article.
