Milky Way galaxy[edit]

Infrared image from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope shows hundreds of thousands of stars crowded into the swirling core of our spiral Milky Way galaxy. In visible-light pictures, this region cannot be seen at all because dust lying between Earth and the galactic center blocks our view.
Reason
Very stunning and beutiful picture.

  • Comment Support now - Stunning pic, but the caption is lacking. What telescope took the photo? In what spectrum? Are there really only "hundreds" of stars at the galactic core? I'd support with a better cap. --TotoBaggins 20:50, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
