Wikipedia:Wikiproject Baseball has undertaken the task of raising List of MLB Awards to featured topic status and I picked this little article to fix up. Used NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award for All-Star Game MVP style/content and Roberto Clemente Award (along with other various baseball award articles) for baseball award style. *In the lead, some seasons are linked while others aren't.

  • I've now linked all the seasons discussing an award being presented. Did not link 1970, 1985, or 2002 because there you are discussing name changes to the award and not actual ASGs. *Both "were" in the second-to-last sentence of the lead should be "was"; this is because they are referring to "one pair", not the pairs themselves.

*If possible, per MOS:IMAGES, pictures of people should face in. Not a big deal though.

  • Sadly a lot of the ASG MVPs come from the very fallow period of Wikipedia images, in between that time of all PD due to age (pre-1923) but before modern (particularly digital) photography started making it easier to find images. For example we have no images for Maury Wills, Leon Wagner, Bill Madlock, Jon Matlack, or Yaz (have one in-career shot of Yaz, but very bad quality) who are all the other 'interesting' and notable early winners. We really need a shot of Willie Mays and that's currently the only shot we have, and on the GA and Carl Crawford shots I think they are very high quality images and are worth inclusion.   • Lead: What's the All-Star game? Obviously you and I know, but the casual reader might not.
  • Way too many em-dashes in the lead. It's chopped the last few sentences into a bunch of fragmented pieces. See WP:EMDASH for more info.

  • "The award has been shared by multiple players once—" - change to semicolon
  • "Two players have won the award for a game in which their league lost—" - change to colon
  • "One pair of awardees were father and son—Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr.— and one pair were brothers—Roberto Alomar and Sandy Alomar, Jr." - change both sets to parentheses
  • There are several parenthetical or appositive phrases, as well as transitional words, that aren't set off properly with commas.

  • Echoing comments above: sorting does not work properly. Make the year of the tie into two rows, and add a color and symbol on the year (preferably an asterisk and some shade of light red) to denote that there was a tie.

  • Baseball-Almanac is practically as notable a baseball website as Baseball-Reference. Baseball-Almanac (and it's associated site Baseball Fever) is one of the largest baseball sites on the web (basically I'd list Baseball-Reference, Baseball-Almanac, Baseball Prospectus, and Hardball Times). The support page lists numerous very notable press sources such as National Geographic and the Chicago Tribune singing the praises of the site.   • OK, after looking at all the baseball FLCs and a couple FACs from the past 10 months or so, I found two mentions of Baseball Almanac at FLC (in both cases the ref was replaced), and Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/J. R. Richard, where the same support page was cited, though the ref was eventually replaced. I'm leaning toward accepting the source, especially if it's used for uncontroversial info.   • You have OF in the key, but break it down into RF, LF and CF in the table. Needs consistency one way or other.
  • Leon Wagner and Maury Wills don't sort correctly.

      • NOTE: Mass changing of all lists should not be undertaken. Each of these lists needs to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Having some with linked position abbreviations and some with positions written out does the list quality no harm, but standardizing them may cause harm due to the width of some particular tables.
