Wikipedia:Experienced users can give permission

This is a proposal which can be of a great help to users who are not admins. A member of a particular user group; example Autopatrolled; can give permission to other users who were not in the user group till that time. Abusing this right may lead to a Indefinite blocks or any other type of hard block as per the situation arises. There may be some warning templates for those who misuse the tool.

Guidelines[edit]

  • A member of a particular group should check the user's contributions very carefully before giving out permission.
  • A Non-admin should not give out permission to brand new editors.
  • Giving out rights to a user because they are friends in real-life will not be tolerated.
