Stwalkerster[edit]

Stwalkerster (talk · contribs) I just want to know what people around think of me and my editing. Am I focusing on the right areas? I have been very active in vandal catching recently, but is this the right thing to spend practially all my time on wikipedia doing? Please can you advise me especially on what I am doing, and what I can do to be a more rounded editor? Also, please can you tell me what the community needs most, and if I can be of a bit of assistance there. Thanks a lot for any reviews that people do. Stwalkerster 16:49, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews

I read your comments here but did not attempt a full review. Generally, patrolling recent changes for vandalism is great, but it's mindless busy work, and everyone else is doing it too. You will occasionally find edits that would slip through the cracks if you weren't there, but mostly you're just a foot soldier in a vast army. A slightly less mindless activity that I enjoy is placing categories on uncategorized pages. There are thousands of them, and any help you can offer is better than nothing. For more information see Wikipedia:Categorization and Wikipedia:Wikiproject Categorization. For other ways to help the community, see the community portal (link on the left sidebar).

I wish you good luck. YechielMan 20:21, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I try to make every edit as good as it can be, or I do a batch of edits, each improving on the last, or just quite simply saving as I go along, because you cannot be too careful. Therefore, I try to be as pleased with each edit as I was the last.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have not been involved in any conflicts over editing, but have encountered the Edit Conflict notice when reverting vandalism or warning vandals, plus once or twice when editing articles, but only rarely. I have attempted to integrate content together, or when a warning is involved, scrap the warning I was giving, and just save the one someone else added. If there became a situation where I could enter an edit war, I would keep the other parties' content (to stop short-term arguments, and post on the talk page of the article what I think it should say, and also tell the other party (on their talk page) that I think it should say something different. Actually, thinking about it, I have been involved in several 'edit wars' with vandals, constantly reverting their vandalism and posting warnings. These are commonly short-lived, as my patience expires, eventually ending up with me posting the {{subst:uw-vandalism4}} tag on their talk page (yes that was from memory), then paying a quick visit to WP:AIV, and posting a message to any sysops that happen to be around. That is a brief description of all the edit wars that I have been involved in. And they arn't even proper edit wars, but I don't want to be involved in one of them!
