@Nihlus: Can you explain what this edit filter does? I just had another math-heavy edit that tripped over this, and "<" is a lot more dangerous in HTML, so I usually prefer to write it as <. "j<i" is hardly an unusual thing to say in mathematics, and that's getting close to <i>. I'd probably have a lot more sympathy if I understood why this edit filter exists in the first place, and the notes are annoyingly vague. 104.153.72.218 (talk) 02:05, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

That is how I interpret the Independent article too. The title is confusing - to whom does the word "him" refer? But the content is less ambiguous: "Mr Fowler claimed he was frequently whipped and raped by their father". The "he" there can really only mean Fowler himself. The Playbill citation is misleading as it only confirms the fact that Spacey was the youngest of three siblings. This is a serious error. Can someone fix it, please?

Description: I was trying to correct the name of a song given on the track listing of the album. The name of the original song as it appears on physical and digital copies of the album was changed by some editor to a different title that has been used only in Eyehategod's recent live performances. However, the name of the song was not "officially changed", as one previous editor claims. The song was released in 1993, and the thousands of copies of the album that have been distributed since then have the N-word in the title rather than "neighbor" for the song in question. This is the actual name of the track, and the title that it is universally known by. Therefore, it is the title that should be given on Wikipedia, regardless of the offensive nature.

A priest can be laicized for any reason, and often simply means that he asked to leave the priesthood (ie to get married). But this is not that kind of case. The filter simply, and understandably, flagged the word "paedophile", a word that you don't want to bury when referring to an actual paedophile.

Not exactly - the two brothers are tied together: the brother's priesthood was known, and complemented Joe Feeney's public image, and Joe's celebrity helped to shield his brother from prosecution. (i.e. ¶17 here: [1])

Adding this story to the Controversies section. This is an extremely important event since people still quote Coach Blake's statements to claim Troy Aikman is a racist even though it has proven to be false.

Blake made numerous claims that Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman treated his black teammates differently and thus was a racist. In response to Blake's comments the entire Cowboys organization including black players and coaches came to the defense of their franchise quarterback. Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, and the notoriously outspoken Charles Haley went on the record to stand by Aikman with Haley pointing out that despite the Super Bowl being a week away the Cowboys made the unprecedented move to "mutually" dismiss Blake early from his contract therefore allowing him to start his new position as Head Coach of the Oklahoma Sooners.^[1]

Hi there. I believe I can explain why these edits are currently being disallowed. Each individual edit of yours is okay when examined in isolation; however, you have been submitting these edits to dozens upon dozens of articles in a very short period of time, leading some of us to suspect your actions may be assisted by some sort of automated tool. An important policy to keep in mind is WP:MEATBOT, which states that it is irrelevant whether high-speed edits are actually being performed by a bot, if errors are being made in those high-speed edits.
Here, the edits you are making only affect the wikitext, not the actual presentation of the article. These sorts of high-speed cosmetic changes are controversial on Wikipedia because they tend to clog important logs that other editors patrol, such as revision histories and the recent changes feed. Earlier this year, the WP:COSMETICBOT section of the bot policy was rewritten to give advice to users who intend to make such high-rate edits. The nutshell is that the community expects editors to seek a consensus with other editors to make this change before actually doing it, and it doesn't look like you did so here.
The edit filter was designed to encourage you to stop these high-speed edits and discuss the matter with us, so now that it is in place, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. To me, I'm not sure why it is necessary to change {{Infobox Settlement}} to {{Infobox settlement}} across the board, since the former would just redirect to the latter. Additionally, I don't quite see so compelling a need to inform other editors that more fields and documentation is available that we have to apply this change to all articles that call the infobox. Filter has prevented a legitimate reversion of an edit. The religious organisation referrred to in the life Teen article sends out spam emails and screenshots of the emails was provided. An editor, with an interest in Religion reverted it, hiwever that seems to be a biased reversion of a legitimate edit.
