This article was created with a cut & paste of various subpages of that website: beginning here and concluding here. The article was deleted as a blatant copyright violation on June 27th, but restored on July 19th by an admin who indicated only two paragraphs were copied, and that these had been removed. (See the deletion log). In fact, the removal, here, only removed some of the copyrighted material. The article was still entirely copied from the source, from the second sentence "That is, multidimensional database systems offer an extension to the relational system to provide a multi-dimensional view of the data (Rand)" on. The "history" section was copied from here, beginning with "The relational database model uses a two-dimensional structure...." The section "Why use dimensional databases?" was copied from here, beginning with the words "The techniques of entity-relationship (ER) modelling...." "Advantages" was copied from that same page, beginning with the words "Apart from the inherent advantages of using...." The website on which this material was originally published displays a copyright notice. Lacking verification of permission, we cannot publish any of this material.
