Nominator's rationale: Mason (talk) 20:43, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same disruptive OP. @Liz, can you block him from category space? Mason (talk) 20:45, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, again a whole tree for a single article. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:37, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Just a note that Category:High schools in Hualien City has been emptied. Regarding the editor I think you are referring to, I gave him a final warning but I guess it had no impact. Ponyo has already blocked them from category space, indefinitely. I would have gone to a limited duration block but they can always appeal. Liz Read! Talk! 23:20, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Ponyo thanks for the block, Liz thanks for the explanation. NLeeuw (talk) 00:39, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge (non-admin closure) QueenofHearts 00:17, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: 3x upmerge for now. There's not enough content to diffuse these churches by century. Mason (talk) 19:38, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Mayors of populated places in the United States[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename (non-admin closure) QueenofHearts 00:17, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Page out of phase with its siblings in Category:Mayors by country. This was speedy-moved to its current name in November with a rationale that wasn't entirely applicable to it -- it cited the precedent of several "American X by city" containers having been moved to "American X by populated place", but this isn't subject to that same issue because it wasn't "Mayors of cities".
All other countries across the board are at "Mayors of places" rather than "Mayors of populated places", with this as the only outlier -- and while there may be a case that they should be at "populated places" too, that would have to be done to all categories right across the board, because it's not just a special US-specific issue. Further, all of the state-level subcategories here have also been left at "mayors of places" rather than "mayors of populated places", but they would also all have to be moved on the same grounds too.
The problem with "by city" isn't automatically applicable to "by place" as well — the problem with the former is that sometimes towns and villages also have relevant content that can't be accurately categorized as "city", but "places" isn't subject to that same issue because towns and villages are also places, and obviously an unpopulated place can't have a mayor by definition. So moving "mayors of places" to "mayors of populated places" would be a valid discussion to have as to whether it's needed or not, but it isn't automatically militated by anything that's happening to "by city" categories because it isn't the same issue.
Accordingly, I'm willing to withdraw this if somebody's willing to tackle a comprehensive batch move of all "Mayors of places" categories to "Mayors of populated places", but there's no reason why this one specific category would need to stand alone as a unique divergence from all of the other categories. The result of the discussion was: rename (non-admin closure) QueenofHearts 00:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Ungrammatical naming convention. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 14:24, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support. Lots of people will have been killed in a different century than they were born. This renaming centres the time of death, and makes the category's purpose unambiguously clear. In this context, the date of birth is WP:NONDEFINING.
NLeeuw (talk) 16:19, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename, while I don't really expect that people have been categorized by date of birth, the proposed names are nevertheless clearer than the current names. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:25, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Support rename! Mason (talk) 19:39, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure) QueenofHearts 02:48, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Non-defining. The only person in this category was convicted in the Buchenwald trial. Offenburg trials is not even a page on Wikipedia Mason (talk) 00:20, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, the article does not mention he was convicted in the Buchenwald trials. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:08, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was basing it on the infobox. But delete is also good with me. Mason (talk) 19:40, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have removed it from the infobox. The subject of the article is not listed in Buchenwald trial while that seems an exhaustive list. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:14, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
