Nominator's rationale: delete per WP:SMALLCAT, only one article in every of the subcategories, moreover it is the same article in all three. Merging is not needed, the article is already in Category:Almoravid writers and in the tree of Category:Astronomers of the medieval Islamic world etc. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:46, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose - WP:SMALLCAT has exceptions, among them is one that allows small categories if they are "part of a large overall accepted sub-categorization scheme, such as subdividing...flags in Category:Flags by country". As subdividing mathematicians/astronomers/physicians/scientists by country is an accepted sub-categorization scheme, the count of Almoravid articles should be irrelevant. Besides, readers should be able to immediately tell which scientists lived in the Almoravid empire without having to do any guesswork by repeatedly intersecting various categories until there is match (like say "Astronomers of the medieval Islamic world" and "Almoravid Empires" to figure out astronomers under Almoravid).   • There is no large established tree of astronomers by former country and we will never have that because the level of astronomy varies widely between former countries. The only article that this discussion is about, Avempace, is already in Category:Astronomers of Al-Andalus and Category:Almoravid writers which makes it very easy to find some 20 + 6 other articles that have the strongest commonality with Avempace. Nominator's rationale: delete, for us 21st-century Wikipedia users this is a meaningless title. It is also a case of WP:SMALLCAT, just one article in the category.   • actually Overseers of fields was a high position at the Ancient Egypt royal court with many highest officials in this position (look at him Userhet was one of the very few officials with the honor of a tomb in the Valley of the Kings). I would want to restore this Category. It is somehow weird that here, people decide on a subject that they know very little about it.Udimu (talk) 08:55, 1 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
