Nominator's rationale: Not a useful category: appears to mean "First ladies or gentlemen of Mexico who are from the state of Veracruz", which is not a grouping needing a Category. Several other similar cats have been recently created. PamD 23:08, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: soft merge per WP:SMALLCAT (currently only one or two articles in every category), without objection to recreate a category after 5+ books of an author have an article. Note that this is not a case of the smallcat exception rule because loads of economics books are not categorized by writer. In addition, there is no risk of losing the navigation possibilities between the author article and the book article because of the merge, because especially with few books per author there is always a direct link in the body text of the articles. • Propose deleting
Nominator's rationale: I propose deletion of Phanerozoic taxonomic families and all subcategories. The parent category was created by the notorious banned user Look2See1, who was blocked for their disruptive editing regarding categories (see [1], with various other people having created the other subcategories. These categories add enormous clutter to articles. Take for instance Anaxyelidae, which because it has existed since the Middle Jurassic, is saddled with over 20 of these categories. These are neither defining nor serve a useful purpose. We only need to list the first and last appearances, which are covered by Category:First appearances of taxa and Category:Phanerozoic extinctions. Hemiauchenia (talk) 21:42, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted Magnatyrannus emptying of the category for the purposes of this discussion. Hemiauchenia (talk) 02:01, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as an unnecessary category. We don't need a banned user's categories still standing.
Magnatyrannus (talk | contribs) 02:24, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Procedural comment It is customary to explicitly include all the subcategories when opening a bulk CfD, in addition to tagging them. This is also part of a larger scheme. In general, we will need only the "first appearances" and "extinctions" subcategories to prevent chaos at living fossil articles where first appearance is well-estalished. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 10:09, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Procedural oppose, only deleting the top category just leaves the subcategories orphaned, so it does not solve anything. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:08, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for forcing me to give myself carpel tunnel to list all 100+ categories. I'm going to be doing these in batches if that's okay, to save my hand joints. Hemiauchenia (talk) 19:09, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hemiauchenia, if you list the categories here I'm happy to mass tag them. — Qwerfjkltalk 19:22, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Qwerfjkl: I've made a complete list now. Feel free to mass tag them. Hemiauchenia (talk) 19:26, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support - no-one seems to be defending these Look2See1 creations, as is often the case. Oculi (talk) 18:01, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
