Nominator's rationale: This was created in Aug 2022 by user:Rathfelder, along with its parent Category:People educated at British public schools. This is the only 'by occupation' subcategory of Category:People educated at British public schools which is otherwise subcategorised by school. Oculi (talk) 22:35, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 08:34, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The round in which a player is drafted is trivial to their overall career. I can see an argument for first-overall picks, as this adds a sustained level of notoriety and expectations. However, dozens of players are selected in the first round of the NHL draft each year. I also note that there are no equivalents for other US-based leagues. User:Namiba 15:13, 30 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Incidents involving sovereign citizens[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Incidents involving the sovereign citizen movement. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 08:36, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Current name violates both WP:NPOV and WP:FRINGE by assuming, in WP:WIKIVOICE that persons involved in these incidents were, in fact, so-called 'sovereign citizens', whereas our article on that topic describes the soveriegn citizen babble as "pseudolaw". NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 21:19, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Original proposer says...... I can live with that. Thanks for improving on my application for rename.NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 23:45, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Alt rename per Mucube (or else keep), the proposed name in the nomination is unnecessarily unwieldy. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:52, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've taken the liberty of striking part of the original proposal (very naughty) as it included a double "the" - Arjayay (talk) 18:58, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Confessing sinner says, thanks Arjayay! NewsAndEventsGuy (talk) 23:43, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Michael Jackson sexual abuse allegations[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: delete and manual merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 08:40, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This category should not exist as there are certainly WP:NONDEF concerns for the living accusers and the deceased who prevailed in a court of law. People are not notable for allegations and that includes the accused and the accuser. See for similar discussions. Jackson or his accusers are not defined by these accusations, nor would they want to be. The minority of non-BLP entries, including the subcategory, can be moved to the parent Category:Michael Jackson. TruthGuardians (talk) 18:14, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:SMALLCAT, only two articles properly belong in the category. There is no need to merge, the two articles are already in Category:Michael Jackson. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:08, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • The proposal would currently remove two pages from the Category:Michael Jackson hierarchy, namely Wade Robson (claimant) and Thomas W. Sneddon Jr. (investigator). Presumably Marcocapelle does not count these as belonging in the category or its parent. IMHO the connection is certainly defining for Sneddon. I sympathise with the sentiments in the nomination, but I see the abuse allegation as WP:DEFINING for Robson as the topic of an encyclopedia article, whether or not it is psychologically defining for him as a person. Therefore I would either keep or merge those two pages. – Fayenatic London 10:38, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete As previously stated, there is no need to merge per WP:SMALLCAT. The allegations against Michael Jackson already has its place on wikipedia. There are only 2 articles in this category that are better suited in the other categories they are already in. MraClean (talk) 02:53, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 08:41, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: rename to align with Category:Islam and other religions and with Category:Muhammad and Judaism, and better recognizable as a topic category instead of a set category. Marcocapelle (talk) 11:08, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 08:42, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: merge per WP:SMALLCAT, the 9th century is a little too early to start this series of categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:57, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
