The result of the discussion was: rename. The Bushranger One ping only 00:43, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Rename. This is one program apparently run by the university. The parent category should be named the same as the university. Probably should be a speedy, but just in case here for a full discussion. Vegaswikian (talk) 23:07, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.
Relisting comment: I am sorry to pull this one out of the backlog, but a relist seems the only option here

  • Upmerge 4 is borderline, but with the parent only having 15 direct entries at present, this subdivision is not really needed.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:48, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Upmerge and {{category redirect}}. No sign of any significant prospect of expansion, and the parent category is not big enough to require splitting. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:02, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Manchester Metrolink stations[edit]

The result of the discussion was: merge all (and already done). The Bushranger One ping only 00:46, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge all per nominator. These should really have been done by a single CFD proposal to rename the existing categories, rather than by somebody going to all the trouble of recategorising them. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:46, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Manchester Metrolink Rochdale–Manchester line stations[edit]
Nominator's rationale: Merged with Category:Manchester Metrolink stations on the East Didsbury – Rochdale line. When the category was created it was not known that the line would terminate at East Didsbury. This category move reflects the new line that opened last year. Delsion23 (talk) 22:10, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Manchester Metrolink stations on the St Werburgh's Road – Oldham Mumps line[edit]
Nominator's rationale: Merged into Category:Manchester Metrolink stations on the East Didsbury – Rochdale line. The line has extended north to Rochdale and south to East Didsbury. Delsion23 (talk) 22:06, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Manchester Metrolink Manchester-Ashton line stations[edit]
Nominator's rationale: Merged into Category:Manchester Metrolink stations on the Bury–Ashton-under-Lyne line. Since the category was created the new line has opened and it terminates at Bury, not Manchester. Delsion23 (talk) 21:52, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Category:Manchester Metrolink stations on the Bury–Piccadilly line[edit]
Nominator's rationale: Merged into Category:Manchester Metrolink stations on the Bury–Ashton-under-Lyne line as the line has now extended to Ashton. Delsion23 (talk) 21:51, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: delete. The Bushranger One ping only 00:46, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: An IP requested renaming/merging this category and Category:Fictional characters with nuclear abilities, but did so at RM. As such, this is a procedural listing and I am neutral on the question. The IP's rationale is on the talk page of this category.

I noticed that the category is effectively empty; only some user and Wikipedia pages that mirror RM list it, and those are likely to be removed now that the RM is closed. I considered tagging this for C1, but thought I'd just let this run its course. BDD (talk) 19:42, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete A category must have been empty for some days before being deleted, that's why I did not request that immediately. As it was, it just listed a handful of characters already in the nuclear category, and Superman and related characters (with the rationale that they have survived a nuclear attack; but that was not for a character-defining power, but just because they are nigh-invulnerable). Cambalachero (talk) 20:18, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • The category is now officially empty. Speedy deletion should be doable as of 2 February. --BDD (talk) 00:54, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Publications by company[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge. The Bushranger One ping only 00:47, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: I don't see any reason why there should a category for "publications by company" under "publications by publisher". As far as I can see, a company that publishes is a publisher... Propose to upmerge this category to Category:Publications by publisher, leaving a soft redirect. Randykitty (talk) 15:04, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • merge per nominator. These are container categories whose subcats mostly follow the same convention, so this should probably be propagated through the entire subtree. Mangoe (talk) 21:19, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Community settlements in Israel[edit]

The result of the discussion was: RENAME to Category:Community settlements (Israel). The debate evidently concludes the parenthetical disambiguator is needed, and the article has been stable at the equivalent title. -Splash - tk 13:12, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: This move brings the title in line with the main article (Community settlement) and also resolves an NPOV issue, as some community settlements are in the West Bank, and therefore cannot be described as "in Israel". Number 57 13:15, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Now that the article title has changed, I see no reason to why the category shouldn't be renamed too and it also resolves the NPOV issue. --IRISZOOM (talk) 15:47, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as proposed Category:Community settlements (Israel) would be the way to go. In the real world, [1] this is a highly ambiguous term, therefore this will end up collecting all sorts of things. -- 70.50.148.122 (talk) 06:25, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Like Kibbutzim and Moshavim, Community settlements are specific to Israel (your Google link proves nothing, as the phrase comes up in English prose without being a proper noun). These categories do not require an form of disambiguation (Category:Kibbutzim and Category:Moshavim), and your proposal does not really fix the NPOV problem. Number 57 12:45, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • See Talk:Community settlement (Israel)#Page_move_reverted, where the other meanings are listed and referenced.
As to your NPOV concerns, these are settlements of Israeli citizens, under Israeli law; the fact that some are in the West Bank doesn't alter that. So AFAICS the "Israel" disambiguator is entirely appropriate, but I am open to suggestions of something better. Feel free to propose an alternative disambiguator if you like, but that should be done through an RM discussion on the article. The category title follows the article title, and right now the two are aligned. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs)
  • comment Someone seems to have moved the main article back to the original parenthetic title, with the implication that there is some other kind of "community settlement" elsewhere. I gather this isn't true. Mangoe (talk) 21:17, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename to Category:Community settlements (Israel), the parenthetical is needed. It is clear that the specific meaning is not universally known. This is not a Hebrew word like Kibbutz, so the assumption of Israeli connection is not justified.John Pack Lambert (talk) 21:51, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Philosophy disambiguation[edit]

The result of the discussion was: delete. The Bushranger One ping only 00:47, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Disambiguation pages (e.g. Induction) are just for linking to similarly named topics. The dab pages themselves are not about any particular topic. If Wikiproject Philosophy have an interest in a particular dab page then it can be tagged on its talk page and hence placed in Category:Disambig-Class Philosophy articles. We don't need this category as well. • Strong oppose -- The existence of this category makes it possible to tag these kinds of pages as "disambig-class." Greg Bard (talk) 21:23, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
