The result of the discussion was: rename Category:Alumni of the Tallinn Music High School to Category:Tallinn Music High School alumni; do not rename Category:Hugo Treffner Gymnasium alumni. -- Black Falcon (talk) 02:11, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose renaming

Either:

Or:

Nominator's rationale: There are currently just two alumni categories for Estonian schools but they use a mix of formats and need standardising. Currently Category:Alumni by university or college in Estonia consistently uses "Foo alumni" throughout so I guess that form is preferable. Timrollpickering (talk) 23:18, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Latter: I prefer "Foo alumni" just because it conveys the same info more concisely.RevelationDirect (talk) 21:52, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Maker of the category: I prefer to rename to "Foo alumni" too. Bowsbows (talk) 23:04, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Rename. Timrollpickering (talk) 23:30, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose renaming Category:Conspiracy theories involving Jews and Israel to Category:Conspiracy theories involving Israel
Nominator's rationale: There is already a category for Category:Conspiracy theories involving Jews so this one seems redundant. It also implies every conspiracy theory about Israel is also about Jews, which is simply inaccurate.--The Devil's Advocate (talk) 23:03, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Keep & rename to Category:iO Theater. Timrollpickering (talk) 23:29, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Category:ImprovOlympics (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Nominator's rationale: Kept in 2007, this is basically performer by performance, a long-deprecated category type. If kept, it needs a rename to... something else, however, given where the parent article is located -I.O.. Courcelles 21:58, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename/Week Keep or Listify Rename to Category:iO Theater. This is neither the name of the cat nor the main article but is what is documented in the article as well as the organizational web site. I don't think being an employee of an organization for a couple years falls under "performance", closer to alumni of a college. That being said, I'm not really sure this one is as notable as similar Second City or Monty Python cats so I'm open to listify. RevelationDirect (talk) 22:14, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep and Rename. iO is a recognized training ground for comedians, comic actors, writers, etc. As such it has influence similar to Second City, the Groundling, etc. To a lesser extent, perhaps, but increasing in the past few years. I would agree that the category name should be changed to reflect the theatre's current name, as per RevelationDirect.Bjones (talk) 13:52, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Merge. Timrollpickering (talk) 15:53, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose deleting Category:Italian people of Jewish descent
Nominator's rationale: category features 2 pages of people while overlapping category Category:Italian Jews features over 245 pages of people. -- User:grantblack (talk) - 12:08, 21 January 2012 (ET)

Category:Catholic sexual abuse scandal in Ireland[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: Rename to Category:Roman Catholic Church sex abuse scandal in Ireland. Timrollpickering (talk) 15:55, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose renaming Category:Catholic sexual abuse scandal in Ireland to Category:Abuses of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland
Nominator's rationale: "Catholic" means universal so need to be more specific about the denomination. "Scandal" means that there has only ever been 1 scandal; there have been many. "Sexual" means that the only scandals have been of a sexual nature; there have been many scandals associated with the industrial schools and Magdalan laundries, which were not necessarily sexual in nature, but were abusive in another way. If this proposal is successful, I will then propose to change the partent name (Category:Catholic sexual abuse scandal in Europe) in a similar way. Laurel Lodged (talk) 14:18, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - "Abuses of..." often means "Mis-use of..." or "Insults directed at..." so is too imprecise. The existing name refers to the scandal, not directly to the scandalous activities, which is not the same. So the proposed name would probably need to start "Alleged abuses committed by..." or some similar cumbersome phrase. It's OK as it is. --Northernhenge (talk) 16:33, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Query Is the purpose of the article to explain that there have been scandals in the RC church in Irl or to explain that there have been abuses of a sexual nature in the RC church in Irl that have given rise to scandal? If the former, then I could be persuaded that user Northernhenge is correct to say that the current name is OK. On the other hand, if the latter is true then I don't see how Northernhenge's argument holds up. Laurel Lodged (talk) 16:07, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment re singular - there have been many, over different decades by different institutions, orders, clerics. It's likely that the category will grow to include them. It needs to be plural therefore. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:15, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Speedy rename C2C/creator request. Timrollpickering (talk) 14:07, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose renaming Category:Environmental topics by year to Category:Environment by year
Nominator's rationale: redundant word and to suit convention. It is also a more succinct name. Note that I am the creator of the category. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 05:57, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: merge/split. Timrollpickering (talk) 15:52, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose merging Category:Memorial gates and arches to split to Category:Arches and vaults and Category:Gates
Nominator's rationale: Merge. Split into the appropriate parent categories, main article not withstanding. Vegaswikian (talk) 03:36, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge: Conceptually OK with category but current article count does not justify it. RevelationDirect (talk) 08:01, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Merge. Timrollpickering (talk) 15:49, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Propose merging Category:Cold War radar networks to Category:Radar networks
Nominator's rationale: Merge. I'm not convinced that we need this level of breakout. No real harm in upmerging. Vegaswikian (talk) 03:16, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Upmerge per nom. (Each article should also be put in a suitable Cold War category, if necessary.) Oculi (talk) 16:39, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Upmerge per nom. That soert of detail is best in an article. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 06:14, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Category:Cold War military operations to Category:Cold War
Nominator's rationale: Merge. OC small and not convinced that it is needed. If someone feels that it should be upmerged to both parents, I would not object. Vegaswikian (talk) 03:11, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Category:Demolished railway stations in Pennsylvania both parents

Propose renaming:
Nominator's rationale: This nomination is a follow-up to the recent CFD for association football clubs by country, which replaced nationality (Fooian X) with country (X in Foo) under a single format. -- Black Falcon (talk) 03:04, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This nomination is a follow-up to the recent CFD for association football clubs by country, which replaced nationality (Fooian X) with country (X in Foo) under a single format (and forced poor Cydebot to work non-stop for over 16 hours - [1] to [2]). -- Black Falcon (talk) 02:52, 21 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
