Non-notable junior league hockey player, no senior international play, no professional play, no notable awards, no nothing. Fails WP:NHOCKEY and the GNG. Article created by SPA (who created one other such article also up for AfD). Prod deleted without comment by anon IP (who also deprodded the other such AfD). - Delete - Player does not meet the criteria of WP:NHOCKEY. Dolovis (talk) 15:14, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - Bartschi is one of the nominees for the WHL's Rookie of the Year Award, which received considerable support as meeting NHOCKEY during the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins AfD. The WHL announces their winners on May 4. Canada Hky (talk) 15:30, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Question Is he nominated for the CHL ROY too? Or does that depend on if he gets the WHL ROY or not. Ravendrop 18:18, 11 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep - The article may be premature, but deletion now would be as well given that we'll know shortly if he won his league's ROY award, which would likely establish notability under WP:NHOCKEY. And that said, I am not sure he doesn't meet WP:GNG right now. His status as a top draft prospect has generated coverage at nhl.com (which is an independent source at least until he actually is drafted) and at espn.com (although the coverage may be skimpy; I don't intend to pay to get past the paywall). There is also at least one story about him in the Portland Tribune. And there was a short story in the Oregonian about his signing with the Winterhawks (that might be considered routine if the Oregonian routinely publishes stories on every player the Winterhawks sign, but that doesn't seem likely). There may be more non-routine coverage as well, but he has a considerable amount of routine coverage right now, which makes it difficult to sift through to pick out non-routine coverage. Rlendog (talk) 21:28, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Canada Hky's additional sources make me confident he meets WP:GNG even if he doesn't yet meet WP:NHOCKEY. And there are probably more sources in his native land, but I don't know how to search for it. Rlendog (talk) 01:19, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Very shortly, Bartschi will likely meet NHOCKEY, either through winning the WHL ROTY or being an NHL first round pick. As for right now, I believe he meets the GNG. In addition to the coverage pointed out above: Columbian story on his draft, Portland Tribune profile on Nino and Sven, Interview on IIHF site. Canada Hky (talk) 04:11, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete, This athlete is non-notable, and he doesn't pass WP:NHOCKEY. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. To keep is to ignore the principles of WP:SPECULATION. Keeping the article would set a perilous precedent, and would instigate a slippery slope for future deletion discussions. If this person achieves notability in future by virtue of his accomplishments, then this article can be recreated at that later date. Overdrawn Invader (talk) 14:23, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Can you elaborate on why he is "non-notable" despite the substantial coverage he has received? Rlendog (talk) 01:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- And why it would set a "perilous precedent" to keep an article on an individual who has received substantial coverage from multiple sources in multiple countries on two continents? Rlendog (talk) 01:46, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached.

- Weak keep - I'll explain my stance so we don't end up relisting this a third time. Remember that Nail Yakupov was brought here, an article I wrote for someone who was a sure lock for the ROY award in the OHL. Problem? I wrote it early. It was brought up for deletion by someone claiming no notability. It was deleted. Less than three weeks later, he won ROY. It went to deletion review. After a discussion that appeared in consensus to keep, it remained deleted. Puzzled and confused, I had an exchange on the closing admin's page. Eventually, it was reconsidered and kept after all. So...with that out of the way, I have not checked this player's stats, but based on the prior AfD, that's not enough; Yakupov is the top rookie scorer for the Sarnia Sting, and that wasn't enough either. Since we can't use a crystal ball to predict ROY, we must look at whether he meets WP:GNG. If he does, it's a definite keep. If not, it's delete. Even so, my weak keep also votes to incubate and end this discussion for the time being; if he does not win ROY, then off to deletion review to delete after May 4 if he's not otherwise notable under WP:GNG. - Keep Meets WP:GNG per the sources outlined by Rlendog and myself above. Canada Hky (talk) 00:55, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Doesn't yet meet criteria of WP:NHOCKEY. I'd suggest deletion, with a sympathetic editor getting the article userfied in case he becomes award-winning. Dayewalker (talk) 01:24, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Although he does not yet neet WP:NHOCKEY, he seems to meet WP:GNG. Rlendog (talk) 01:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep: He's received significant coverage in Swiss newspapers (see German-languages references I added to article), and should be a top NHL draft pick in 2 months, so there's no good reason for deletion. Its clear from the sources he'd be playing in the top-tier Swiss league already if he hadn't come to the U.S.--Milowent • talkblp-r 03:50, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep I think there's a pretty good case that he meets the GNG. Qrsdogg (talk) 17:05, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
