The result was delete‎. In addition to sustaining a numerical majority, editors favoring deletion made guideline-backed arguments regarding the absence of lasting coverage and failure to meet WP:CRIME that were not rebutted. signed, Rosguill talk 23:56, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Routine murderer who does not appear to have any encyclopedic notability. No post-conviction / non-news coverage located on a search. ♠PMC(talk) 10:13, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep Although the subject may be a case of WP:1E, this is not a case of WP:ROUTINE as there are some sources online that provide significant coverage for the subject, e.g. interviews. Timothytyy (talk) 10:48, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Interviews are typically regarded as primary sources and do not support a claim to notability. Criminals are often newsworthy; many have been interviewed by the media. What about these interviews makes Bentler or his crimes not routine? ♠PMC(talk) 11:24, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There are actually numerous sources (non-interview) that provide SIGCOV for the subject. But if this is deleted per 1E I won't oppose. Timothytyy (talk) 13:38, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Plenty of coverage and the murder of five people can never be described as "routine". -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:21, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure it can. It's a terrible tragedy but it is, in the grand scope of humanity, a fairly routine one. What matters for the purposes of this project is whether or not the news coverage goes beyond the local area, whether there were any lasting implications to the crime (laws changed, culture altered), and whether coverage outlasted the news cycle and entered the realm of secondary analysis, none of which appears to be the case here. ♠PMC(talk) 14:25, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In the western world, only in America, sadly. To the rest of us it would never be routine. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:45, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have a policy-based argument to put forth, or are you just here to provide social commentary? ♠PMC(talk) 17:19, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Delete. No lasting or notable coverage outside the Iowa area. TheAmazingRaspberry (talk) 00:02, 10 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think that there are enough reliable sources about this person to keep and improve this article. (Also it cannot be renamed to the Murder of ___ because there were multiple people killed.) Adler3 (talk) 02:47, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • This user has been CU-blocked, but the sources in question are 1) a local news story which provides no indication of lasting notability 2) a blog, which as we all know are not reliable sources and 3) a post on Medium, a blog-hosting service that is (one more time ladies and gents) not reliable. ♠PMC(talk) 14:30, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep: per sources identified by Adler3 Jack4576 (talk) 03:05, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Fails WP:CRIME. The sources provided by Adler3 are marginal at best. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:12, 22 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom et al. Non-notable murderer, and not enough coverage from reliable sources to warrant a standalone article. CycloneYoris talk! 10:03, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
