Author of questionable notability. Yes, he has written some books and turned some of those books into movies, but with the possible exception of his book covers (which are not in English) shown on his own blog, there are no English references that show significant coverage or otherwise indicate that this person meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines under any category. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 23:50, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Keep An artist working in Malayalam won't have English sources, rather Malayalam sources. Unfortunately his name ശങ്കർ is very common, and Google Translate does not include Malayalam. So we are stuck without someone who speaks Malayalam. I am nonetheless !voting Keep because there does seem to be strong suggestions of notability, anyone with that many creative works will likely easily pass WP:CREATIVE since the film and/or books will be reviewed or discussed (such as this one[1]). I recommend Keep the article for now with tags for more sources and revisit in a few years to see if a Malayalam-speaker can find more/better sources. -- GreenC 17:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Re: "Anyone with that many creative works will likely easily pass WP:CREATIVE" - While this statement may seem seem self-evident, I do not accept it as such, particularly in today's world of cheap self-publishing. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying that it's not self-evident. Keep per GreenC's suggestion that a Malayalan speaker would be helpful — I don't see any need to rush with a deletion of an article with inoffensive/uncontroversial content. Perhaps somebody who wants to invest time in this might begin by asking Wikipedia:WikiProject_India or Wikipedia:WikiProject_Kerala if anybody would be able to look over the article in ml.wikipedia.org and bring over any useful references? – Kieran T ^(talk) 13:33, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
