comment Going through GScholar I find a lot of references to both this term and to "pre-reflective self-consciousness". Halliday's book gets few cites in GS, which may partially be a function of its odd publishing history, but my sense is that possibly he has tried to co-opt a term and bend it to his own. Someone with a lot more familiarity and patience with philo-speak will have to take this further, though. Mangoe (talk) 03:08, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Delete I don't find many references to Halliday's book in reliable, independent sources. As Mangoe notes, Google Scholar throws up a lot of red herrings; the use of the term "(pre-)reflective self-consciousness" by mainstream philosophers (this article provides a good introduction) is unrelated to Halliday's theory of enlightenment. I can't support a merge while the entire article is lacking inline citations, and I don't believe a blank-and-redirect to Eugene Halliday would be appropriate, since his use of the term is so idiosyncratic.
