I am unsure what exactly makes this particular bird notable as an introduced species (as opposed to all other introduced species); I'd simply redirect it, but the that would result in a very unlikely searchterm. So, does this one species really warrant its own article? Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 03:31, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- I would say yes. Additional papers to the one already mentioned devoted to this topic (or more specifically, "Purples Swamphens in Florida") establish it as an independently notable one including:- Attempted eradication of Porphyrio porphyrio Linnaeus in the Florida Everglades, A Natural History of the Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) (University of Florida) and Florida's Introduced Birds: Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) Keep.--Melburnian (talk) 05:15, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge and redirect to Purple Swamphen#Escapes and introductions. There's no need for a separate article, as the main page is not exactly overlong. This is nowhere near as notable as Rabbits in Australia. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:34, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge (to wp:preserve useful content), then delete. There probably is enough information to warrant a separate article, but unless someone is willing to do the work of writing a full-size article, including the limited info that's here in the parent species article seems like the best course of action. I agree that a redirect isn't needed, as this is an unlikely search term. SP-KP (talk) 17:29, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi there SP-KP. Was there any particular reason that you wanted to merge and delete? Because this is not something that Wikipedia's content licence allows us to do (at least not without jumping through a few hoops.) Best regards — Mr. Stradivarius ♫ 11:27, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Merge and redirect to Purple Swamphen#Escapes and introductions per Clarityfiend.--Lenticel (talk) 01:05, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
