One out of ten or more glee clubs at Cal; could be redirected to University of California, Berkeley instead of outright deletion. I am assuming there was an earlier AfD discussion, because the editor who created the page said, "saw that this was deleted some time ago for not being important enough but believe notability to now be established". However, it isn't. The article is totally unreferenced. The group's claims to fame are 1) a video that was very popular on You-Tube, and 2) a first-level appearance on America's Got Talent. The "Honors and Awards" section is a joke. This group is certainly far less noteworthy (pun intended) than Stanford's Fleet Street Singers, which was recently deleted as non-notable. - Comment Can you substantiate the claim that Noteworthy is less notable than Fleet Street? Jscg (talk) 19:40, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, for starters, Google News: [1] vs. [2] Or how about longevity: founded in 1981 vs. founded in 2000. I'm not arguing that Fleet Street should be restored; it is the dominant acapella group at Stanford, but it does not appear to have the required independent sourcing to prove it. --MelanieN (talk) 20:23, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment I see that no earlier discussion turned up when I listed this. Maybe the earlier deletion referenced by the creator of the article might have been a prod? --MelanieN (talk) 18:26, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Ah, now I see. According to a comment on the creator's talk page, the earlier article was speedied in January 2008 under A7. So this is not a second AfD discussion after all. However, I believe enough claims of notability are now put forward to require AfD rather than another speedy. --MelanieN (talk) 18:43, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Fleet street's page was deleted? That's no good; both they and Noteworthy are highly notable bay area music groups. I was looking at the group of people who have edited the page after I created it and one of them appears to be an admin(User:Rosiestep; they did not see fit to mark it for deletion. Furthermore, precedent seems to indicate that there are many a cappella groups that have far less than these people do, are deemed notable enough List of collegiate a cappella groups. - Delete. A music group at a university. Does not meet any standards for notability. Its video getting a lot of views on YouTube is not sufficient. --Crunch (talk) 19:09, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete, article does not have sufficient WP:RS to indicate that the subject is notable. Apparently buzzworthy due to the viral video, which is mentioned a couple of times in the blogosphere, but nothing substantial indicating WP:ORG is met. (Also, inclusion or exclusion on the List of collegiate a cappella groups cannot be taken as an indicator of notability or lack thereof.) --Kinu t/c 20:37, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete per WP:ORG. Student club at a single school. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 21:35, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep the article now has two independent sources verifying its validity as a notable organization including an award nomination from the contemporary a cappella society Jscg (talk) 17:37, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: an article about a student organization at a university in the same university's student-run newspaper is of shaky reliability as a reliable source. Likewise, there is nothing to suggest said award is notable, nor is merely being nominated for it. --Kinu t/c 17:40, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete The student newspaper at the school doesn't get it over the WP:ORG / WP:GNG hump per Kinu and MelanieN. I wouldn't redirect unless the mention at the UC Berkeley page is (or could be) more worthwhile than it is now, but a redirect wouldn't really hurt since somebody searching for them would get there either way (a search in the search box or a redirect with Berkeley in parens). - Delete - per nom. With the number of members ranging from six to ten, this must be a club that should be clubbed. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:55, 3 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
