Comment: if he sang Radames at the Arena of Verona, with Maria Chiara as Aida, as this suggests, he is notable. Just find more sources and reduce POV. I have no time today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:00, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. I've rewritten this completely with multiple new references, which incidentally are not at all hard to find. He was a very notable tenor in the 1970s and 1990s, singing leading roles in the world's major opera houses, including La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Colón, Royal Opera House, etc. He has entries in both the Grove Dictionary of Opera and The La Scala Encyclopedia of the Opera. He clearly passes Criteria 1 for actors and Criteria 6 for musicians, and if he's notable enough to have entries in two major reference works on opera, he's certainly notable enough to have an entry in Wikipedia. There are also press articles, which I have not used in the article, e.g. this from La Repubblica; multiple excerpts of Italian press reviews of his performances in Opera 2000. Annuario dell'opera lirica in Italia, Opera '98. Annuario dell'opera lirica in Italia, Opera '91. Annuario dell'opera lirica in Italia;;, etc.; a review in the New York Times of his performance in the title role of Andrea Chénier. These are just a few of what's available. Clicking on his WorldCat identity in the authority control at the foot of the article reveals multiple recordings, in all of which he sings the leading tenor role.
