Notability is not sure due to lack of citations Majun e Baqi (talk) 06:45, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- Delete: An unotable chess player, the article could have deleted as an A7. EditQwerty (talk) 08:23, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- No it couldn't, being the first national master of a country is a credible claim of significance, even with no source. Could have been a WP:BLPPROD though.-- P-K3 (talk) 12:55, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Honestly, per the discussion at COIN and his talk, this article should've been draftified. He might have local sources. In its current form, it's unacceptable for mainspace and AfC should've been followed. It's a bit late now, due to the AfD nomination, for me to draftify. Closer should consider deleting Draft:Ly Kimlong (Chess Player) as a (superseded) cut and paste move, and then draftify this article. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 12:21, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

@Pawnkingthree: We can never be sure if the credible claim of significance is true or false because it has no references, which makes it hard to verify. I can't find any news or credible sources, to support that he is the national chess champion of Cambodia, can you? EditQwerty (talk) 17:44, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- EditQwerty No I can't. I can find virtually nothing on him at all. There may be Khmer sources I suppose.-- P-K3 (talk) 17:51, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

- Comment I am curious about this article, since if the claims are true there may be coverage somewhere. On the other hand, this edit looks like the article subject adding themselves to another article. In any case, I cleaned up the article a bit and added the Chess wikiproject, so perhaps that might draw some more attention.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 06:47, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- ThatMontrealIP, I did not find any credible sources or news. See yourself at Google search or here ~ Amkgp 💬 10:03, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
The FIDE profile record here makes it to believe what is presented in the article as FALSECorrect profile is presented below ~ Amkgp 💬 10:13, 15 July 2020 (UTC)- That is not the right profile. This is the correct one, and indicates that he is an Arena FIDE Master, an online only title, and there is no indication of any other title or even a FIDE rating.-- P-K3 (talk) 12:55, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Comment agreed with amkgpMajun e Baqi (talk) 10:20, 15 July 2020 (UTC)blocked as sockpuppet ~ Amkgp 💬 12:47, 18 July 2020 (UTC)- Delete Fails WP:GNG and WP:NCHESS. It's not clear what standard is meant by "national master" as these are not recognized by FIDE and I can find no information as to how the title is awarded.-- P-K3 (talk) 13:15, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Pawnkingthree, Agree with your point and thanks for the correction ~ Amkgp 💬 13:35, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I've just noticed that there is also a draft version of this article at Draft:Ly Kimlong (Chess Player). It seems the article creator User:Hout Ly (who is the President of the Cambodian Chess Federation) was told to go through Articles for Creation by User:RickinBaltimore because of his COI but started this in mainspace as well.-- P-K3 (talk) 18:04, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Pawnkingthree: yes it seems they made this article right after the AFC was declined. I put a speedy on the older draft article.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
