Notability--can't find reliable, secondary sources providing in-depth coverage on this Catalan artist, but I recognize the difficulty of finding appropriate Catalan sources. Note that this is ca:Lluís Marsans i Julià, not ca:Lluís Marsans i Sola or some other ambiguous luís Marsans's. The Catalan wikipedia does list an (↑ Tharrats, Joan Josep. Cent Anys de Pintura a Cadaqués. Barcelona: Parsifal Edicions, 2007, p. 210. ISBN 84-95554-27-5. [modifica]) offline source), which certainly exists--but I can't even verify that the word Marsans appears in it. That Catawiki entry also EL's a gallery bio (not inherently reliable for contents), which, if I take at face value doesn't quite make WP:BASIC and would be, lacking more WP:RS, a long way from WP:ARTIST. Additional sources welcomed, thanks! j⚛e deckertalk to me 20:27, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Delete: unable to find significant coverage in any reliable sources independent of the subject.J04n(talk page) 20:00, 7 February 2011 (UTC) striking delete !vote per the references found, is his first name spelled properly in the article? The 2 L's is what threw me off. J04n(talk page) 22:10, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]- Keep although it's a close call as there are so few sources available. Marsans had 14 works in the exhibition Representation Abroad at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in 1985, and the text of the catalogue provides enough information about the artist for a meaningful stub article. When John Ashbery reviewed the exhibition for Newsweek he devoted a few lines to Marsans, and he later included the review in his collection Reported Sightings. One of the two dozen or so color plates in the book is a still-life by Marsans, which gives him particular prominence there. A few other brief but nontrivial mentions in RSs can be found, as here, here, and here. Ewulp (talk) 06:10, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Happy to withdraw my nom based on Ashbery and the NYT, LAT refs, I'll drop you a note to see if you might assist me updating the article with respect to the former, since I can't seem to manage the text of either the Newsweek issue or the compilation on-line. --j⚛e deckertalk to me 16:16, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment: I'll add what I can based on notes I took at the local library over the weekend, and I hope to have a bit more next week. The artist's name seems always to be spelled "Luis" in the English-speaking world, and a move is in order per WP:NAME. Ewulp (talk) 02:30, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Thanks muchly! I'll move the article (if it hasn't been done already.) --j⚛e deckertalk to me 02:32, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
