List of the youngest mayors in the United States[edit]

List of the youngest mayors in the United States (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View log | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

Arbitrary cross-categorisation ("mayor" and "ago upon taking office") and selection. Seems like an original collection based on individual sources which fail to discuss the individual members as a group. The sources I can find of the topic do not seem to discuss this in the same way as the article, posing further issues. For ex. this; or they limit themselves to those in larger cities (and again, only mentioning one person, which might at best be pertinent in the article about that person, but does not justify the rest of this trivia list).

This seems to be something somebody thought was interesting one day (which is not a valid criterion for having an article), and on top of that they then failed to check whether it meets any of the criteria (including WP:NOR and WP:V - given this is an original compilation of data not published elsewhere [how can we make sure this list is actually accurate and hasn't missed/omitted some entries, if there's no other source which makes this compilation?], both of these problems apply) RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 22:11, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete this is a textbook case of WP:OR and specifically WP:SYNTH, which also borders on WP:INDISCRIMINATE. There seems to be no rationale for who is included and why. While a page itself needing cleanup is not a reason for deletion, I don't see a way this page can exist in a way that doesn't need clean up. For example, what is the cut-off for young/notably young? I understand that Seth Low becoming Mayor of New York at 31 is notable for being young, but how is Steve McAlpine notable for being mayor of Valdez, Alaska at 31 when Bill Walker is also on the list as the youngest mayor of Valdez at 27. The lack of definition of young or city makes this page nigh impossible to maintain and also is full of WP:OR at state at the beginning. snood1205(Say Hi! (talk)) 22:22, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete WP:INDISCRIMINATE age trivia list, precedent has not been kind to this sort of stuff. Dronebogus (talk) 05:45, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as is per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. If this list contained just the youngest mayor (ever) in each state (and possibly the youngest mayor of a certain population size i.e. greater than 100,000), I think the page/list could be retained. --Enos733 (talk) 17:46, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as WP:NECC. Avilich (talk) 00:48, 27 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. I can't find reliable secondary sources that broach this topic, so this is going to fail WP:NLIST as far as I can tell. — Mhawk10 (talk) 07:14, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Any group of people can theoretically be listed by any number of parameters. However, most of those combinations of groups and parameters constitute WP:Non-encyclopedic cross-categorizations. In order for such a list to make for a valid stand-alone article, there needs to be a good reason why that particular group should be listed by that particular parameter. Otherwise, WP:DELREASON#14 (Any other content not suitable for an encyclopedia) applies. In this case, it has not been demonstrated that there is a good reason to list this group by this parameter.
