This list is only one line long, and as it replicates an existing category, it seems unnecessary. Videomaniac29 (talk) 00:11, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- (1) There was an Afd nomination of a similar article for the United States some time ago. During that nomination it was, IIRC, suggested that the topic of killings by police officers satisfied NOTESAL on the basis of various sources. In any event the nomination was not succesful. (2) The fact that there is already a category is not a valid reason for deletion.
(3) If the number of homicides is sufficiently small, it might be possible to merge the list into the appropriate article on the Canadian police. (I have no idea what the number is).(4) This list should probably be keptor merged.James500 (talk) 11:15, 30 September 2013 (UTC) Comments stricken due to the change in the nominator's rationale. - I am concerned that the length of an article is being used as a criteria for deletion. I started this list as a Canadian version of List of killings by law enforcement officers in the United States. For me, the strength of Wikipedia is that one person can start with a small contribution and other editors can expand on that idea. I even went to the trouble of finding a new reference source despite the fact that this list links to two articles that contain their own references. I would appreciate if someone could define the criteria by which this consideration is being made. Alan.ca (talk) 11:18, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. The nominator's rationale originally contained the words "The list is only one line long" which he has now deleted. I mention this so that the closing admin can better understand some of the comments above. James500 (talk) 19:28, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Sorry for deleting part of my original nomination. I meant to strike it out and must have somehow deleted it by mistake. I have now fixed it. Also, just to clarify; the main rationale beyond the nomination was that the list is unnecessary because it duplicates an existing category. I probably shouldn't have mentioned the length of the article, because that is irrelevant. Videomaniac29 (talk) 22:19, 1 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- WP:NOTDUP says that duplication of an existing category is not a reason to delete a list. I think that disposes of the sole argument for deletion. James500 (talk) 19:25, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
