List of Beach Boys songs by singer[edit]

Very redundant lists, both. The latter is only of interest to Beach Boys fans, and not only are both lists overlong, they're terrribly undersourced. I see these as redundant to the pages on the individual songs and albums. Given these lists' lengths and the fact that I've seen other deleted lists before, I see no reason to keep this. This is just trivia for the most part, especially the list of who sang what.
I withdraw half of this nomination. The List of The Beach Boys songs is apparently fine, but I still feel that List of Beach Boys songs by singer is trivial and possibly unverifiable. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 05:10, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep the former, but delete the latter — there has to be references for the songs of The Beach Boys; it seems that it's up to someone to find them. With the possible exception of individual songs by Brian Wilson, it doesn't make sense to sort by singer, as people wouldn't necessarily know who sang what. - Merge; specifically, keep List of The Beach Boys songs and delete List of Beach Boys songs by singer, merging any information from the latter into the former. Reformat the result as a sortable list, like List of The Beatles songs, and then anyone can view the songs by singer by sorting on that column. TJRC (talk) 06:00, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep, lists are a perfectly suitable way of navigating articles and can contain much more information that for example categories (like these). Sourcing is not necessary IMO, as long as the individual articles contain the proper sources. --Reinoutr (talk) 09:31, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Individual entries in a lists do not need separate sourcing if there is an obvious context to the title and lead-in and they have WP articles themselves. These are exactly the type of lists that make WP a really cool place to research information. Redunancy is not and never should be a reason for deletion.--Mike Cline (talk) 11:59, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- Comment I endorse the deletion of the list by singer, still. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 17:09, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- TPH, just to clarify, does that mean you no longer support the deletion of List of The Beach Boys songs as you proposed? TJRC (talk) 17:12, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells • Otter chirps • HELP) 18:44, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- In that case I consider a merge might be more appropriate as suggested above in analogy to the Beatles song list. --Reinoutr (talk) 09:10, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment. As the nominator has withdrawn one of the two articles originally nominated, I believe this discussion should be closed at this point and a fresh AFD launched for the article in question, just to avoid potential confusion. 23skidoo (talk) 13:03, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep List of The Beach Boys songs, but delete List of Beach Boys songs by singer. The former is fine but the latter is too much of a BLP issue without good verification. Also, there's no need to close this discussion and start another, there's enough relevant discussion here that the reviewing admin should be able to determine consensus. --147.70.176.108 (talk) 21:02, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
